Nothing strange about this, I'd love to manage my country too if I was as good as Rafa!!!

It's usually what most people want. Working with the classiest footballers for the nation is something special to have on the CV, I guess.

I wouldn't want to manage Malaysia, though :lmao:

Glad to see a conclusion that Rafa very likely to stay.
So, now LFC just sorted out one trouble.
Then, next I looking forward for other good news.

      ...Our spine players stay :)
...Some new quality players sign in :)
...A specialist from Australia coming and improve our players injury problem :)
...Someone who capable to take LFC forward come up and buy a club soon :)

Oh ! really some good prospect to be happy.
But someones above still look not happy enough.

If I were you, I'll never come here, never read, never post, pls go to ManU/Chelsea/City forum.

      Sorry for my poor English.

No, he won't. If he does manage the current Spain team, he would have an abundance of quality to pick from in the likes of Xavi, Xabi Alonso and Cesc Fabregas. Funnily enough, none of them are defensive midfielders unless he picks Marcos Senna or Sergio Busquets.

I'm not sure if this should be separated or combined with other threads. Please move if appropriate, thanks in advance.

Benitez: Who said I'm not a good coach!

And in comparison to other Liverpool managers, Benitez is below only the legendary duo of Bob Paisley and Kenny Dalglish when it comes to win ratios at the club.

Have to be honest, i am shocked at this statistic. Just shows how great the man is and how he dosen't get the credit, nor respect, he deserves.

Yeah, and to think of it, I feel the Premier League's much more demanding now in terms of standard and quality.

Completley agree mate. It really emphasises the fact that maybe had Rafa been around 20+ years ago he may have won a lot more than he has. I know that is a stupid remark to make but it shows how demanding the Premiership is.

Real are the darlings of Spain- the government saved them from the wall a decade ago... If he delivers at Madrid like we all know he will in terms of trophies, I don't think it's inconceivable. He is the best manager in world football (if he manages til Fergie's age he will be the greatest ever manager... Again, not inconceivable). Benitez manage the Spannish national side? Poor old Riera.

      As did Shankly.

Shanks built a side around lets see now - Chris Lawler, Gerry Byrne, Tommy Smith, Ian Callaghan, Jimmy Melia. All young, local lads. Then rebuilt with players like Phil Thompson and Phil Boesmar, again young local lads.

As for Rafa wanting to manage Spain, it's nothing new. Most managers at some point in their career say they want to manage their national side. Even the so called greatest manager in the world Mourinho said he wants to manage Portugal one day. Difference between the two is Mourinho said he'll manage Portugal when he's ready as if to say all he has to do is say the word and Portugal will drop everything for him. Rafa, again, shows more dignity than the former Chelsea manager.

His comments on Mourinho were taken out of context there. Which is exactly what he said if you saw or heard what he actually said in that interview.

He said he wouldn't comment on anything because the media take it something else. He then said Mourinho's a good coach but he cannot comment on him or his position with Madrid and this article is doing exactly what Rafa said they would.

      Playground jealousy from benitez. Embarassing.

Or possibly Rafa thinks Jose is a c**t and he'd be right.

Why would Spain want Rafa as a coach anyway??? They are a top team and could have any coach they want, so why Rafa??? Somebody please explain to me.

They never said now, but I presume it's because he's a decent coach who's won the top honours in the game and Del Bosque isn't getting any younger.

Ok, fair enough. I was wrong. I'm just basing it on this season.
