Who Would You Keep And Why?

Just as a hypothetical, now that scumboy has come out and said Torres and Gerrard won't be sold, if we needed to raise cash to buy some players, who would people here rather keep, Torres or Gerrard?

I'd hate to see either of them leave, but if say, Real were to offer £40 million plus for either of them, I'd say we would be better off keeping Nando - my reasoning is this: Gerrard at 30 will soon start to decline, not immediately of course, but in a couple of years time, whereas Nando will be at his peak.

If maureen wants to pay silly money for a player approaching the latter stages of his career, I would bleed him for every last penny I could and use the cash to strengthen the squad - who knows, we may even be able to get Silva and Turan.

Like I say, I'd hate to see either leave, and really hope Gerrard ends his career at Liverpool - but in this kind of scenario, which is purely for speculative purposes, I'd really like to know what others here think.

I understand where you're coming from, but if you HAD to sell one of them, who would you pick?

I'd sell Torres out the two for a couple of reasons.

1 - we'd get more for him as he's reaching his prime, Stevie is probably just edging out of his.
2 - Nando, as good as he is, is too prone to injuries and we don't have him fit enough for an entire season.
3 - bring in 50/60 mill (possibly more with today's F***ing stupid inflated prices - 50/60 mill is stupid money anyway) we can bring in three, maybe four players to add more depth to the squad and that should include two or three decent forwards who'd compensate for the loss of Nando.

And let's not forget the new medical guy, and the fact that Nando hasn't had a decent summer break since he joined us.

A decent back up striker, and a rest for torres could be just the job...

Would never sell Torres, he is irreplaceable. Even Messi probably couldn't match his preformances for us. Gerrard unfortunately might not regain his old form, but he is still a vastly important player. Would hate to sell either of them.

Sell Gerrard. Even when Fernando lazes about he scores out of nowhere. When Gerrard does, he's in the dressing sheds before the fulltime whistle.

Still get some great cash for him from Maureen that could be in excess of 40m and his position is easier to replace than Fernando's.

I would definitely keep Torres. We need to add a couple of good stikers to help Torres and thus prevent injuries. With Torres are our only true attacking option, he has been called to play when he was not fit and thus risked injuries.

Got to agree with you mate, I hate the way some people are so quick to turn on him after being our best player for nearly a decade. We should cherish the players that have given so much for the club.

In relation to the thread though It's whoever wants to go, can't keep a player that isn't committed fully, hopefully this isn't the case.

Once upon a time Billy mate, I would agree with you all the way, but with the current regime in charge let's be honest both Torres and Reina are irreplaceable, as we don't have anyone good enough in the squad who could replace them and we certainly don't have the money to replace them either.

Both if neither of them wanted to play for our club next season. That aside I'd say none. Don't want to be sending the yanks off with deep pockets.
