Liverpool defender Glen Johnson could be in line for a summer move to European champions Inter Milan.
Reports in Italy suggest that new Inter manager Rafael Benitez is planning to raid his former club and has made the attacking full-back one of his first additions at the San Siro.
Johnson joined Liverpool last summer from Portsmouth in a deal worth a reported £17million and was a first-team regular last season despite a series of injury setbacks restricting him to only 35 appearances.
Inter are believed to be willing to meet Liverpool's valuation for the England international, who is currently preparing for Saturday's World Cup clash with the USA, of €15million and are confident that Maicon's impending sale to Real Madrid for double that figure will cover this.
Several other Anfield regulars have been linked with a reunion with Benitez at the Serie A champions including Dirk Kuyt, Daniel Agger and Javier Mascherano whilst Fernando Torres' future continues to remain uncertain amidst interest from Chelsea and Manchester City.
The talismanic striker made a substitute appearance in Spain's 6-0 rout over Poland in their final warm-up game before the finals in South Africa and was delighted to register his name on the score sheet in his first game since April.
He said: "I am very happy because now it is nearly two months after the surgery and I haven't noticed any problems.
"This was a very important day to me because to play in the World Cup is most important.
"The minutes I played were useful to gain rhythm and to confirm that my knee is good.
"It was perfect, and to get a goal as well, I'm very happy."
