Pretty much sums it up! They are just too old and in all honesty past their best, whilst VDV is just in his prime which would be a good swoop imo.

Roy will play 4-4-2. That's for sure. I was watching an interview on UEFA's Training Ground about his best formation and he states that he thinks there's a balance in every blade of the pitch. Such that when one full back goes up to attack, there's at least 3 defending at the back, one striker supporting one another... so on and so forth.

I certainly see him partnering Gerrard with someone in centre midfield. As with last season we played 3 midfielders hence we faced a crisis whereby players like Lucas, who for me isn't good enough - is overused.

He definitely is going for a striker. He can see our injury crisis when Torres is out. I'll like VDV though, but that probably might spell the end of Kuyt's Anfield career if Jovanovic takes the left side.

Apparently as part of the severance deal, we can't sign Fulham players so that's Hangeland, Murphy and Zamora out.

I actually think Gilberto Silva is still a good player (he's having a very good World Cup, for example), but we shouldn't be looking for a 33 year old midfielder who's past his best.

Seems quite a random quartet to be linked with so there must be some truth in the article. We dont need anymore centre backs, Gilberto and Murphy are past their best - if Rafa was in charge we wouldn't be interested - so why now.
