      Liverpool FC v Al-Hilal Riyadh (17 July 6pm)

      Vs.

      Well Boys and Girls.

It's the First game of what could be a Very long season. We have a new Manager in Roy Hodgson, IRWT v2.0. We have lost a player, and we have gained a player. Who else will go and who else will come.

But on Saturday its the first of our preseason games. Not the big Hullabaloo of last years Far Eastern excursion, which was for me the undoing of the whole season. This year we have a slow and unadvertised Preseason campain, 100% due to the fact that we have to Qualify for the Europa League.

Our opponents are Al-Hilal Riyadh, a Saudi Arabian professional football club based in the country's capital of Riyadh.

      Web site http://www.alhilal.com/en/

I have no idea who will be playing but I have a good idea who will not. It will be interesting to see how our style and formation may/will have changed due to Rafa's departure and Roy's arrival.

So Knock yourselves out and start posting your teams, theories, and predictions.

      COME ON YOU REDS

The only thing I know about Al-Hilal is that Mark Hughes was considering managing them.

On the pitch the only source of new interest is that Jovanovic 'could' be involved.

With so many of our players still on their WC holidays can't see much more than a very much second string XI.

Although saying that, the English players have had plenty of holiday time already, no?

Agreed, looking forward to seeing Jovanovic play. It will also be interesting to see what formations Roy looks at and to hopefully see Kelly, Pacheco and Shelvey as well as 1 or 2 other of the young players given a run out. Too often in recent seasons the young lads have played a big part in pre-season and then vanished once the season started.

      My team...if everyone is fit...

                                  Cavalieri

      Kelly            Kyriakos             Mavinga        Insua

                                    Lucas

                      Shelvey               Aquilani

              Pacheco          Ngog             Jovanovic

Riera would not be anywhere near Melwood, Austria or anywhere else to do with Liverpool.

Completely agree. I'd rather have the cash and put it towards a left back, thats if we get the cash.

We certainly will not get the 8m benitez wasted on him back, but I would settle for 5m as I think that would still be more than the little c**t is worth !!

We have lost Yossi and gained Jovanovic...
Possibly sell Riera and if we get Joey Cole then I will be a very happy man..
      Two top free signings...
On the game though, I would prefer Don77's team than mine..
I'm very excited about Shelvey and although I havent seen the lad, from what I've heard hes top quality...
This is a big season too for Insua. He has received a lot of flack from LFC fans and although I see lots of potential in him, he was extremely dodgy in the latter parts of last season so hopefully he can start gaining some confidence during preseason...Still hope he isent our first choice left back come August..
Will be interesting to see how Jovanovic fits in and from watching him at the World Cup, he seems a decent player with a strong build that will suit the English game..
Finally, does anyone know what is happening with Spearing?? Is he back with us or is he staying at Leicester...?
If he is with us for pre-season then he has to perform because I dont see him making it

Yeah I though my team was ok haha. Seriously though this is the formation I would like to see us use this season. As for Spearing I think Roy will want to have a look at everyone before making a decision so Jay will have to perform. Personally I don't see him making it but I'd like to be proved wrong and local talent is the future of the club!

As for Cole, wait and see on that one but he would be a great signing for us. He has always spoken highly of the club and the atmosphere at Anfield so I think there is a good chance. But we need to retain our top players first and foremost, ship out some dead wood and move from there!

Reira better not put on a F***ing LFC shirt again. Little sh*te. He can travel with us, but its only a one way ticket.

So long as Pacheco gets a full 90 I'm not fussed.

Sorry for going off topic here:

How comes so many people are willing to forgive Riera?

I have seen more hatred for Rafa- and i dont even need to list the things he has done for/with our club!

Some cant-be-bothered winger, slates our club & everything it stands for IN PUBLIC, hits a reserve team member- and we give him another chance?

      Come on!

Shouldn't Roy have learned these Riera incident's from last season? Just seems like it's his place to find out as much about his players by looking into the past. Really can't see Riera staying, and rightly so the pr**k.
