"The deal for the 28-year-old Spaniard will cost Olympiakos £3.3m, with Liverpool due another £1.6m if the Greek club win their domestic league."

Let's hope they win their league then!
They now have a drawback mate but the more we get for the gobs***e the better.

That is a big loss, £3.3 million is not a lot for a 28 year old player with approx 20 Spanish caps whether we like him or not.

Obviously we trying to get as much money as quickly as possible to give Roy something to spend. Shows how F***ing little money the transfer budget is.

Where is the F***ing £20 million Christian you said is going to be provided every year. We are screaming desperate at the moment.

I don't believe riera was awful for us all the time. He occassionally played ok but the inappropriate things he said publicly meant that he had to leave. Every teams needs a scapegoat (justified or not) in moments of adversity to galvanise a team.
Maybe the best thing he has done for us is to unite a team and a fan base against him and move our club forward.
May well be a blessing in disguise.

Albert Riera set to leave Liverpool for Olympiakos

Riera came to Liverpool from Espanyol in August 2008
Liverpool winger Albert Riera is close to joining Greek club Olympiakos.

The deal for the 28-year-old Spaniard will cost Olympiakos £3.3m, with Liverpool due another £1.6m if the Greek club win their domestic league.

Riera fell out of favour last season at Anfield after claiming that Liverpool was a "sinking ship" under former manager Rafael Benitez.

Riera, who has played for Spain, is expected to sign a four-year deal and will be paid a reported £2.1m a year.

"Unless there is a major surprise then he will be our player," said Olympiakos coach Ewald Lienen. "He is a great player who has proven his worth both at club level and for the Spanish national side."

The outburst against rafa was always the final nail in the coffin!

      PAFC-LFC92
Prior to joining Liverpool for £8m from Espanyol in August 2008, Riera played for Bordeaux and Manchester City.

Riera did not play in Liverpool's 0-0 friendly draw with Grasshoppers in Switzerland on Wednesday because of the negotiations with Olympiakos.

Earlier on Wednesday, Liverpool completed the signings of England midfielder Joe Cole and Rangers defender Danny Wilson.

We need to give the guy a break, it's not like it's his fault he's a c**t. We're just meant to be more proactive in keeping these people out of our club. Glad to see a fairly reputable link says he's going. Good riddance.

I could have forgiven his press outburst.

I could forgive that he was an above average at best Premier League player.

I could forgive that he looked like Quagmire.

      I couldn't forgive him whacking a kid.

Bye Riera, gone & quickly forgotten.

Taking your sinking ship analogy Albert - to refloat the boat, you need to get rid of the dead weight holding you back. So that would be you ! Don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out.
