What makes it even f**king worse is he's a Liverpool fan FFS.  Give him to us and you can have Plessis, fair trade IMO.

Hows about a straight swap for Pepe then ? ;)

Wenger likes his French kids, Plessis fits that bill perfectly - makes PERFECT sense.  Get your own shiny-headed goalie :rasp:

It has been a while since we beat these in the Premier League.

They may not have Cesc or Van Persie from the beginning but plenty of firepower and flare still in Nasri and Arshavin. I hope we can put in a solid performance starting from the back and get the all important 3 points.

                      Pepe
      Johnno  Agger  Skrtel  Aurelio
      Maxi     Masch   Aqua   Joey
                    Gerrard
                    Torres

I am not sure if Kuyt would be ready enough for this game so maybe starting Maxi would be a better option and I don't think Masch is going anywhere this season so play him Roy.

Arsenal are going into the game without Song, Diaby, Denilson, Ramsey and could not have Cesc who is yet play since the World Cup final.

      http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/wengers-woes-at-midfield-put-young-guns-in-line-for-anfield-baptism-of-fire-2290552.html

Didn't realise Arsenal were so weak going into this. Hopefully can win this. Also on Arshavin, I'm repeating my bet from last December, fiver on him to score in 90minutes. So if/when the inevitable happens at least I make some moeney from it ;)

Not one for line ups but i reckon Masch has to play this if he is still here, need a screening player against Arsenal. Crouchinho is right, last year especially at Emirates but also second half of the game at Anfield, they pummelled us in midfield

They are the one team I fear that on their day seem to be have the measure of us.

BUT.....I really fancy us for this one.

My team as follows assuming all fit:

      Reina
      Johnson, Carra, Agger, Aurelio
                    Lucas/Mash
      Maxi         Gerrard         Jovanavic
                      Cole
                      Torres

Didn't they get rid of Senderos, Gallas and Campbell?

So they have just Vermaelen and Djourou to play in defence?

They have signed Koscielny (sp) who they signed from the Ligue 1 in July. Was reliably(ish) informed by an Arsenal fan mate of mine that he was sh*te in the Emirates Cup.

Anyone know if there is Skysports in Gatwick airport? I'm gonna be stuck in there for ten hours, and I'm praying that there is a TV with this game on to break the boredom!!

First game of the season is always a tough one to predict, because no previous form to go on, and fitness issues. However, our players all got a few games under their belts, and also, competitive games, which would give us the edge you would imagine over Arsenal, who have only played their Emirates cup, which nobody really gives a crap about.

Good chance to make a statement, and we need to get our season off to a flyer due to the tough start we've got, get some momentum going.

      Where are our LFC stars?
      10th Aug 2010 - Latest News

Steven Gerrard and Glen Johnson will be hoping to put their World Cup disappointment behind them when England lock horns with Hungary in a friendly on Wednesday night.

The duo retain their places in Fabio Capello's new-look 22 as the Three Lions look to bounce back from their last 16 exit against a side once known as the Magical Magyars.

Lucas Leiva is also in action as he returns to the Brazil fold for their game with the USA, while the Argentine trio of Maxi Rodriguez, Javier Mascherano and Emiliano Insua face a short trip to Dublin for their country's clash with the Republic of Ireland.

In mainland Europe, it's Kyrgiakos versus Jovanovic when Greece host Serbia in Athens, while Daniel Agger's Denmark face a stern test against an impressive Germany outfit.

Martin Skrtel could also feature as Slovakia take on Croatia, with Nabil El Zhar returning to north Africa for Morocco's meeting with Guinea.

At U21 level, David Ngog has been called-up for France's match with Belgium and Martin Kelly is on duty for England against Uzbekistan. New signing Danny Wilson makes a quick-fire return to his homeland for Scotland's showdown with Sweden.

Hungarian duo, Peter Gulacsi and Krisztian Nemeth are in competitive action as they bid to help their country claim victory in a European Championship qualifier with Bosnia and Hercegovina.

Elsewhere, Andre Wisdom will play for England in their U17 meeting with Hungary and Jakub Sokolik will feature for the Czech Republic in an U18 tournament in Prague.

Will be interesting to see how Roy sets his team out at the weekend. Maybe Masch will play instead of Lucas, seeing as Argentina are playing in the Aviva this week. No mention of Reina, Aurelio, Kuyt or Torres so hopefully they are in the squad. Pacheco should feature too as he isn't off...for once.

Looking forward to this. Reckon we can win. Cesc, Song and RVP might be out which helps us a lot and they have yet to replace Gallas and yet to buy a decent goalkeeper.

      Reina
      Johnson - Skrtel - Carra - Insua
      Lucas - Gerrard
      Maxi - J. Cole - Babel
      Kuyt

Anyone who plays against us wearing an Arsenal shirt always seems to perform nowadays, so I wouldn't look too much into Arsenal's injury worries.

We should just concentrate on playing to the best of our ability.

Good to know that we have so many players that are internationally recognised now, so Nemeth is playing for Hungary  but not for us ATM, where is he these days, haven't seen him training.

I fancy us to hit the ground running and get a good win 3-1 as we've been playing competively for a few weeks now and i think that will be the difference.  Stevie G,Ngog and nando to get the goals ;D

Don't think anyone knows really. He'll probably have a test on Saturday.

I think he'll start on the bench.

Biggest match of the year for me , "My Beloved Arsenal" v my second favourite team "The Mighty Redmen" . I'll be goin to my Scouse mate Jed's place to watch this game and i'll be the only Gooner amongst at least 8 born and bred Liverpudlians .
I'll rock up lookin resplendant in my Clichy shirt and my red and white stripe Arsenal scarf , the lads will put sh*t on me for 10 minutes before we all settle down in front of the telly with beers in hand . The banter will flow as freely as the beers and one of us will come out victorious (unless of course Anfield can produce another 4 - 4 draw)
In the extremely unlikely event that Liverpool win i'll just say "hey i love the Redmen too" and depending on how drunk we all get i will be made to wear Jed's daughters very tight Mrs. Steven Gerrard t-shirt , photographic evidence may even be taken .
      Anyhow .... i can't wait for this game .

      GO YOU MIGHTY GUNNERS !!!!!!!!!!
