      Ngoo at the double
      7th Aug 2010 - Latest News
Michael Ngoo struck a brace as Liverpool U18s beat Cardiff City 2-0 in a pre-season friendly at the Academy on Saturday afternoon.

The striker netted twice before half-time, including a sublime individual opener in which he strode beyond the challenges of four visiting defenders before slotting into the corner.

Ngoo then doubled his tally with a neat finish from a cross as Rodolfo Borrell's men claimed a well-deserved win against a talented Cardiff side.

The U18s return to action next Saturday with a friendly against Southampton at the Academy.

Liverpool U18s: Belford, Poor, Sama, Regan, McGiveron (King), Rodden, Aylmer, Silva (Walsh), Sterling (Clare), Adorjan (Sumner), Ngoo (Emilsson).

Didnt think Rodolfo looked too happy after the last game so hopefully now (with Silva, Sterling and Ngoo on form) he will see the positives in who we have at academy. Maybe not as strong now as last year but there is still quality in the team.

Liverpool have agreed a deal to take 14-year-old Oldham starlet Iaia Embarlo to Anfield for a sum of £25,000.

The Portuguese striker, who attended the Latics' centre of excellence, has moved for that initial fee with further add-ons included in the deal.

Embarlo is the latest youngster to leave Boundary Park for the the Barclays Premier League, following Tom Eaves' move to Bolton earlier this month.

Villa are a disgrace. Hacked our players out of it. Could not handle Sterling who was magnificent. Well done son. Coady stuck the boot in eventually. Glad to see him give some back. 2-2. Should have won in. I can see Villa learn the filth early

Was good to finally watch some good attacking play tonight. We need to be brave and give these young lads a chance. Otherwise we will lose some fantastic, cheap, talent. After the first teams performance what have we got to lose

Rodolfo seemed to give one of the Sunderland players a Liverpool training jersey after the game. Probably to do with Adjoran getting sent off for some afters, when he was held by one player and then hit mid header by another. That or he was tapping one up, which I doubt

Should N'Goo not be getting his chance in the reserves by now? I hope he gets his chance, looks like he has loads of potential. Sterling showed in the Carra testamonial, that he looks to be one for the future as well.

Well done to the lads today.  Another good win.

      Young Reds silence the Rams

Rodolfo Borrell's U18s continued their impressive start to the season as they came from behind to beat Derby County 3-2 in a five-goal thriller at the Academy on Saturday.

After making an impressive first start for the reserves at Newcastle on Tuesday and scoring on his debut for England U19s last week, Michael Ngoo led the line alongside Hungarian Krisztian Adorjan.

Former Swindon Town stopper Jamie Stephens started in goal while exciting youngsters Raheem Sterling and Toni Silva also featured.

The young Rams started brightly and were in front after 12 minutes through an unstoppable 25-yard strike from Alex Witham that gave Stephens no chance.

Four minutes later the Reds had a great chance to equalise. Adorjan's superb defence splitting pass sent Silva clear, but after rounding goalkeeper Mats Morch, from a tight angle his effort only found the side netting.

Sterling was causing the Derby County defence all sorts of problems down the left wing and one run saw him beat four players before being hacked down just outside the box.

The former QPR starlet had a wonderful chance after 26 minutes. Again Adorjan was the instigator with a perfectly placed through ball to send him clear. Unfortunately the U18s' No.7 took a heavy touch and Morch produced an excellent point blank save at his feet.

A strong run from left-back Brad Smith took him to the edge of the box, and his fierce low cross was just missed by the lurking Ngoo.

However, the pressure finally told and Borrell's side got a deserved equaliser 10 minutes from the break.

It owed much to superb play from Ngoo who chased down a loose ball down the right, won it and crossed for Silva to slot home into an empty net.

The visitors also had their moments and were dangerous on the counter-attack, but the game then changed just before half-time.

In first-half stoppage time skipper Conor Coady let fly with a stinging 25-yard blast but Morch was equal to it as he palmed the ball over the bar.

From the resulting corner Matthew Regan climbed high to make it 2-1. The Derby players tried to protest the ball didn't cross the line but the referee had a perfect view of it and the goal was given.

Indeed the protests were led too far and Derby were reduced to 10 men when Aaron Cole was sent off for disputing the goal.

It then almost became 3-1 in stoppage time when Sterling weaved his way past a couple of defenders before his curled effort was well saved by Morch.

Borrell's side started the second half intent on adding more goals to their tally and it became 3-1 on 51 minutes when Adorjan netted with a superb left footed strike beyond the reach of Morch.

Silva should have made it 4-1 after a lovely pass from Ngoo but his effort was tipped behind for a corner.

To their credit the 10 men of Derby battled on and got back into the game with a gift after 68 minutes. Stephens sliced his clearance straight to the Rams No.9 Callum Ball, who couldn't believe his luck as he rounded the 'keeper and slotted into the empty net.

Despite conceding a bad goal the away side never came close to an equaliser in the final stages of the game and Ngoo was unlucky not to make it 4-2 after a great run, but was denied at point blank range by Morch.

Liverpool U18s: Jamie Stephens, Matthew McGiveron, Brad Smith, Stephen Sama, Matthew Regan, Conor Coady, Raheem Sterling, Craig Roddan, Michael Ngoo, Krisztian Adorjan (Josh Sumner 70), Toni Brito E Silva (Tom Walsh 84). Unused subs: Peter Aylmer, Tyrell Belford, Adam Morgan.

Another good win for the lads yesterday and well done Raheem for your brace.

Raheem Sterling struck a brace as Liverpool U18s won 2-0 at Leeds United on Saturday lunchtime.

The flying winger was again on top form as he netted twice in the second half to help Rodolfo Borrell's side maintain their unbeaten start to the 2010-11 season.

Sterling's first arrived in the 50th minute before he secured the three points with his second of the afternoon at the death.

Borrell told Liverpoolfc.tv: "It was a very tough game but we deserved to win because we produced a good team performance.

"We worked very hard and played as a team from the first minute until the last."

Liverpool U18s: Stephens, Flanagan, Smith, Sama, Regan, Coady, Sterling, Roddan, Ngoo, Roberts, Silva (Walsh 70). Subs: Aylmer, Belford, Sumner, Morgan

Young Reds hit Bolton for six
      6th Nov 2010 - Latest News

Liverpool U18s returned to winning ways in sensational style on Saturday morning as they recorded a stunning 6-0 victory at Bolton Wanderers.

The young Reds bounced back from their disappointing defeats to Blackburn and West Brom by romping to a comprehensive triumph over a side who had only previously conceded seven goals in their first 10 matches.

Full-back Brad Smith fired Rodolfo Borrell's side into a first-half lead before Toni Silva added a quick-fire brace shortly after the break.

Goals from Michael Ngoo, Adam Morgan and Krisztian Adorjan completed the rout.

Afterwards, Borrell told Liverpoolfc.tv: "We bounced back after two bad results with a great team performance.

"We need to keep working hard to improve day-by-day and not become overconfident after this massive result."

Liverpool U18s: Belford, Smith, Coady, Adorjan, Aylmer (Sumner), Flanagan, Sterling (Walsh), Sama, Regan, Silva, Ngoo (Morgan).
