      Andre-Pierre Gignac (Toulouse)

      Agent claims Gignac move
Toulouse striker Andre-Pierre Gignac could be on his way to Liverpool, according to French reports. The Sport 10 network said that Gignac’s agent is trying to push through a move to the Anfield outfit.

The 24-year-old is a tall, strong striker with great finishing abilities. He has great control and can beat defenders with his skill in tight situations. He is also takes dangerous free-kicks. Gignac scored 11 goals for Toulouse FC last season.

He is contracted to his club until 2013 and he is valued at €15M-20M. (IMScouting)

24 year old French international Gignac is very much your old fashioned style of forward and a player who has built up a reputation in Ligue 1 but has not managed to secure a move away from the fairly modest Toulouse club he represents.

This source believes that Roy Hodgson may be interested and that the player’s agent is looking to push through a move to the Anfield side. I am not sure how accurate such claims are and this could be a case of a player’s representative trying to simply stir up interest in his client but that being said, the big striker could prove a decent foil for Fernando Torres.

He won’t be cheap though and a fee of around £16m would be required to persuade his side to sell. That is of course a pretty big outlay for the Merseyside club to fork out given their financial hardships at this time but if the club offloads Javier Mascherano then perhaps some of that cash may make its way into the bosses transfer funds.

Hodgson is more than aware that the club could need more attacking options and Gignac is a player who could well be suited to the Premier League and has proven himself in France and at international level.

Looked gash in the games I've seen him play in.

Not a 16m rated player for me. Would rather Remy.

Seen him come of the bench at the World Cup. Didn't see much. No thanks.

I wouldn't judge him only on the World Cup. He was played out of position in every game.

That said, I've never seen him play before then.

Similar to Crouch, but not worth more than 10-12 million.

Saw him on multiple occasions over the past 2 seasons, I like him, I rate him.

Not for £16M, though. Not even close.

Where are we going to get 16 million? From the Masch sale that may not happen? I wouldn't mind Gignac for 10 million but anything more is really not worth it.

Bought him on Fifa at the start of my manager mode, F***ing quality, in real life he's decent, didn't have a fair chance at the WC being the in French squad in turmoil, I'd take him at the club but not for 16 mill euros, 12 maybe.

Probably be a pretty good player in the prem I would've thought, got all the physical characteristics, would probably offer us something different upfront as a target man. Didn't like the way Domenech played him on the wing at times for France, clearly not a wide player.

Tad expensive, probably all made up anyway.

He had one really good year with TFC scoring 24 goals in 2008-09, he is the type of striker we do lack in big physical target man who can lead the line. Price is a little bit high but I would take the risk on him, he is a good striker and at 24 could be with the club for a while. He did look poor in the World Cup but so did every French player and most of those players on their day would crack our team easy so I wouldn't judge him on those games.

Not a fan of him. Decent player, but not worth more than 10m. He's looked good in a pretty poor quality side.

Never seen him play at club level so don't know how good he is. Would be very harsh to judge him on  the world cup because i don't think he was even played in his natural position.

Gignac is a good striker with strength and speed. He did not play this weekend with TFC (Toulouse Football Club) due to a minor injury but would be a great addition for LFC. He is good in the air.

This can be closed, he went to Marseille.

At the same time, Loic Remy's transfer to Marseille hasn't been completed because they discovered a heart condition during the medical which needs further research.
