Just a few questions about the transfer system in England. It seems a bit strange.
Are teams aloud to sign players on short term contracts I.e. sign a player for a contract that runs out before the end of the season. 3-months contracts?
A contract can be of any length. However, what would be the point of a player signing a contract until three months before the end of a season when most clubs can't purchase new players because the transfer window is shut. Signing contracts till the end of the season protects the player as they would probably be out of work if they left a club in say March.
Does a loan-deal go down as the player signing for the club? If a player goes to one team on a permanent deal and then on a loan in the same season is he aloud go anywhere else?
When Mascherano was loaned to Liverpool it counted as his third club. The restrictions are therefore that you can only play for two clubs in a season. Mascherano had played in Argentina but their season is different from the Premiership. However it doesn't go down as signing for a club. The only major thing is that they can't play for more than one club in the same cup competitions.
