No obvious reason at all mate, considering he didn't even play against City, it makes it all the more baffling tbh.

Their were rumours we were looking to sell him, and this does nothing to quiten them, and I think we will see in the papers tomorrow fresh rumours circulating that he is going to a second rate spanish club.

Even if Roy is just deciding that since Kuyt could leave he doesn't want to reisk Maxi and word is he has a slight niggle, the press wont see it that way. That is what I think the reasoning is though.

Ahh right, really hope we don't let him go though, he could be vital tomorrow night. Experience is key in that atmosphere.

No, it doesn't. The only way it would tie him is if he'd go to a team who also plays in the europa league AND both the teams qualified for the group stage.

My bad its the other way round, if you played in champs league you cant play in the europa or whatever? my bad

No idea mate. It's completely unclear to me whether or not Kuyt is going to Inter and that's where it comes down to. Have a feeling he won't play though, think they want to cash in on him.

Ye, even if there is the slightest bit of doubt the manager usually just before the game says that the player is unsettled and not in the right frame of mind for the game. Disappointing to say the least.

IMO Roy has decided that since Kuyt could leave then he doesn't want to risk Maxi - word is he has a slight niggle, the press wont see it that way though.
No obvious reason at all? Roy said he's sick in bed with stomach flu. Seems good enough reason to me.

Really not confident at the moment after seeing the amount of players not travelling and potentially not being risked in case of cup ties.

Hopefully Tottenham lose tonight, so more will be made of them beign knocked out than us if we happen to embarass ourselves tommorow night.

I'm suprised the big guns (who are staying) aren't going to be playing in this game tbh, we only have West Brom at home in the league, which is a far easier game than this, away in Turkey.

Taking into account all the changes if I have them all correct my team would have to be

      Reina

      Johnson Carra Sotis Kelly

                  Poulsen
              Lucas
      Kuyt                    Babel
               Cole
                     Ngog

I think it pretty much picks itself to be honest.

Whats the reason behind Maxi not being able to play? Or am I just half asleep and missing an obvious reason?
Quite like that lineup Lefty. However just to reiterate a post I read yesterday ( in the aftermath of Citeh thread )choosing players that had such a poor game against say Citeh or whoever, must leave a bad taste in the mouth of the subs and the rest of the squad members.
I know!! I know!! We would have to change virtually the whole team (I hear you say).Thats why I particulary like YOUR line up.That said I would drop Dirk in an instant cup tied or not after his dreadful performance (pity Maxi's unwell)
Still think we can win this one comfortably.

That was my post mate haha. Glad you agree. We need to have competition for places and Roy has to set his stall out early. That means dropping players after a dreadful performance and giving others a chance. You will find out who is up for it long term then and who isn't!

It seems now more than likely that Kuyt will be sold to Inter. I do not think that he will appear on the match sheet...

I hope the fact that we couldn't kill them off in the first tie won't come back to haunt us.

It's understandable that the ones not going to Turkey have their reasons, at least.

To be honest I am not very confident for this 2nd leg, just 1 nil up, with torres, gerrard , agger and maxi missing,  missing too from what I read will be masch(for obviuos reasons) and kuyt could miss it too although he travelled ,we shipped AA out ffs
the travelling  Liverpool squad v Trabzonspor: Reina, Gulacsi, Hansen, Johnson, Kelly, Skrtel, Carragher, Krygiakos, Aurelio, Cole, Spearing, Poulsen, Lucas, Pacheco, Shelvey, Babel, Kuyt, Ngog, Eccleston.

I thought Kuyt said he wanted to stay before the season started?

I don't think Kuyt should be sold because the same position might occur in PL and we need him in this game because of his experience and need him in PL too and so RH might play him
