      Protest Songs
      Aug 28, 2010 09:31:04 am
Anyone got ideas for protest songs. Something catchy that might get in the fans psychy and highlight to those unaware of it, what our plight is

      Here's my effort.
To the tune of Pearl Jams Jeremy
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OhM6lp_6Q4

      At home
      Drawing pictures
      Of the league table
      Its red on top
      Liverpool FC
      Outraged at the truth
Dare I say that we are not

      Moores didn't pay attention
To the fact their selling the silverware
      Owned by the wicked
      Ruining our world

      You’ll never walk alone
      You’ll never walk alone

      Clearly I remember
      Teams we would destroy
Seemed no harm could be done
      But Moores unleashed a virus
      Gripped us deep
And put fans to the test

      How could I forget
They hit us with surprise dept
      Our club left hurtin
      Stopped from winning
      Now every day
      Another player sold

      The banks didn't give attention
And were heading somewhere we should fear
      We need new owners
      To rule this club

      You’ll never walk alone
      You’ll never walk alone

      Try to change this...
      Try to erase this...
      Current club board

We hope that you get bad AIDS and die you f*cks.

To the tune of anything it goes with ;)

Bob Marley's discography doesn't include too many that would suit a protest.

But I do like the one that goes:
      Get out of our club,
      Get out of our club,
      You lying bas**rds,
      Get out of our club.

We don't need no Yankee owners
We don't need their f**king lies.
No interest payments in the boardroom
      Yankees leave them Reds alone
Hey! Yankees! Leave them Reds alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

We don't need no Yankee owners
We don't need no f**king loans
Stanley Park has no new stadium
      Yankees leave them Reds alone
Hey! Yankees! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall

      "Wrong, Do it again!"
"If you don't scores your goals, you can't have any pudding. How can you
have any pudding if you don't scores your goals?"
"You! Yes, you behind the Mainstand, you're sold laddy!"

      If you’ve heard
      All the lies they told
Now their words are getting old
Just hope and pray, hope and pray
      If you’ve sung
      All the songs to sing
      Sang every little thing
Just hope and pray, hope and pray, hope and pray
That’s what we say, what we say, what we say
      Gotta hope and pray

      If you’ve took
      All your heart will take
      Now the promises just break
Just hope and pray, hope and pray
      If you’ve seen
No sign of a new ground
      The shovels make no sound
Just hope and pray, hope and pray, hope and pray
That’s what we say, what we say, what we say
      Gotta hope and pray

And now you must believe me
      New owners come some day
And now you must believe me
That’s why we hope and pray

      If you’ve lost
      Every bit of faith
Now you’re just filled with hate
Just hope and pray, hope and pray
      If you’ve gone
      Crazy with the thought
      That we’ll never get bought
Just hope and pray, hope and pray, hope and pray
That’s what we say, what we say, what we say
      Gotta hope and pray

To You're Simply The Best By Tina Turner

You told fibs when you brought us, You're a pair of liars
You come to us, And got us on purchase hire,
      When you come to us
      Ya promised everything We need
Gave us a lifetime of promises and a world of dreams
Speak the language of Liverpool like you know what it means
      ohh, it went so wrong
Take our club and make it weaker baby
You've plunged us in debt, bigger than all the rest
Worse than anyone, anyone I've ever met
We're stuck with your sh*t, Paying thousands every day
Tearing us apart, H + G would like the club to fade away
In your hearts I see the lies of every word that you say
In your lies I get lost, I get washed away
Just as long we're, stuck here in your hands
We could be in no worse place
You've plunged us in debts, worse than all the rest
Worse than anyone, anyone I've ever met
In your hearts I see the lies of every word that you say
Tearing us apart, You jokers could never be reds
Each time I see you I start losing control
You're destroying my club, my heart and my soul
And though We'll never walk alone
      I can't can't wait til your gone
You've plunged us in debt, worse than all the rest
Worse than anyone, anyone I've ever met
In your hearts I see the lies in every word that you say
Tearing us apart, But you two will never be reds

the chorus of Bob Marleys One Love:

      One Club,
      One Bird,
Get, the f**k out of Anfield, Tom & George
Hear the Kopites calling (One Club)
Hear the Kopites calling  (One Bird)
Sayin', "Get out of our club and we will feel all right."
Sayin', "Get, the f**k out of Anfield, Tom & George"

Who said anything about going to games.
All I'm doing is getting a thread rolling where we try and get some protest songs written.
Will they work? I don't know.
If they do can people sing them outside the ground as they protest? Course they can.
This isn't about going into the ground or not. It's about getting something into peoples heads about where we are at. Now cut the sh*t. Either contribute to it or don't. I don't care either way, but don't come into the thread with a smart arsed one liner.

In other words unless you are going to contribute positively to this thread... F**k off!

Delightful, Thanks for the abusive language, much appreciated.

With regards to this, yes, great, lets get some protest songs,

all I was saying, if they are being written to be sang at games, it IS pointless.

      Protest marches, Meetings etc yes

Games NO! as the money goes to the yanks

I don't disagree with your points.
I do however strongly disagree with people flagging other topics in what should only be a topic for discussion on protest songs. I may have worded it a little strongly but I do feel this thread has something to offer and I'm fu**ed if it's going to turn into a shouting match for whether or not people should go to games.

If you want to contribute to this great.

If not don't come into it.

There are plenty of threads for that discussion

though I'd change the 3rd line to "the lying tw*ts are F***ing bankrupt" as I still hope the board will do the right thing and block any proposed refinancing.

They're smart, our Yanks. Got rid of Rafa so now we have to think of another chant. Maybe replace 'our club' for Rafa?

The first line of that song has already changed to "They only care about money."

Tearing us apart, But you two will never be reds

especially love the ... you plunged us into debt chorus!!!
