Exciting young prospect is Fernando Llorente Torres.  One Fernando Torres is excellent, two, my word.

But I think Cole dealing IS going through.

PS Caught Offside just make up stuff or pick rumours from other sites.

Yeah me too sadly, would be a much better acquisition but I've got a worrying feeling the Cole deal seems a lot more likely.

He's a year younger and two inches taller than Cole, also looked on his Wikipedia page and found this.

"He is also known as the Lion King or Fernando 2.0."

Think he'd be just what we need to add another dimension upfront, would be terrific for hold up play in a 4-4-2 formation with Torres, having a player his size could be very beneficial in the difficult games, which is just what Zamora offers Fulham, he basically ties the whole team together, although Bilbao surely wouldn't part with him cheaply and It's not the best source as It's been said.

Just saw his wiki page and the nickname "Fernando 2.0". Scared to get excited by this rumour as I have an awful feeling too that C Cole is on his way.

@JimBoardman I mentioned earlier about Llorente. Have a friend in Spain saying it's all but done. Would be a good addition. A handful.

From THIS IS ANFIELD: swap deal involving Insua?

Rumour: Llorente – Insua swap deal
      Article added: August 30th, 2010

TIA Home » LFC News » Transfer Speculation » Rumour: Llorente – Insua swap deal

"Reports in Spain this evening suggest Liverpool have agreed a deal to bring Spanish striker Fernando LLorente to Anfield, with full back Emiliano Insua going in the opposite direction.

Reds boss Roy Hodgson this weekend completed the signature of midfielder Raul Meireles and left back Paul Konchesky should be completed on Monday, leaving a new forward as the manager’s priority.

Speaking after Sunday’s 1-0 win over West Brom, Hodgson said “We’ve got space to add a player. We’d like another striker, we’ve said that all along and there’s no point me denying it. But we still haven’t found the right man and time is running out for us.”

Llorente, 25, was part of Spain’s World Cup winning squad this summer and has been at Atletico Bilboa since age 11. Standing at 6ft 4, the forward has been dubbed the ‘Spanish Peter Crouch’ and would add another dimension to Liverpool’s attack, where options are currently limited.

Reports suggest the deal is worth €11m (£9m), with Insua heading to the Basque club as part of the deal.

Insua though has thus far failed to agree personal terms with the two previous clubs Liverpool have accepted bids for the Argentinian from, and has since been frozen out of the side and has no squad number.

Llorente scored an impressive 21 goals for Bilboa last season. He would team up with Spanish team mates Pepe Reina and Fernando Torres at Anfield."

Jesus Christ, it has to be the worst piece of 'journalism' EVER.

Emiliano Insua going to ATHLETIC BILBAO?!?!?!

Bilbao only sign BASQUE players, Insua is Argentine... unless he comes from a Basque family, which I really doubt.

A fine example as to why my passion to be a journalist waned. There is just no room for professionalism anymore, just two-bit journalists who don't mind getting paid to write sh*t - and are often actually told to write it.

As I said to Ingo on msn, the source in question does not mention anything about him being Basque, I think there's a bigger chance that someone from here just wrote it then it actually being true :D

Also, I did check wikipedia before posting here and I'm pretty sure I'd have seen it if it was already there.

Probably just lies, but I'd jizz myself if we get this lad!  I've been keen on him for a while, and I think he could really bring a new dimension to our attack.  He'd be like Crouch was for us, but a better finisher IMO.

This is from Wiki (don't worry I know it's almost definitely bollocks):

'On 29th August 2010, Bilbao accepted a €11m bid from Liverpool F.C for Llorente, and that he would join the English club later this week subject to a medical.'

With you on that. Sky Sports News were outside Melwood earlier talking about either Llorente or Carlton Cole. The latter ain't going away, unfortunately. :-\

What were SSN saying about the Llorente rumour? I find, and i hate saying it, they are usually quite accurate in what they say.

Would like Llorente to sign. But, the whole question is the price. It is a major major factor.

Most of our signings this season have been players whom the press didn't know about, I am expecting a striker to join Liverpool who hasn't been mentioned yet.

      Its Drogba.

Well it would have been til you mentioned him.... ;)

Date of Birth: 26 February 1985
      Height: 194 cm
      Shirt number: 19
      Position: Forward
      Current club: Athletic Bilbao (ESP)
      International Caps: 8
      International Goals: 3
      First international: Spain - Chile
      (19 November 2008)
      Club History
Athletic Bilbao B (ESP): From 2004 to 2005
Basconia (ESP): From 2003 to 2004
Despite measuring all of 1.93m, Fernando Llorente is about far more than just aerial prowess. Blessed with good technique, the strength to hold up the ball, intelligent movement and a powerful shot, the Athletic Bilbao target man came to prominence with his goals and all-round play at the 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup in the Netherlands.

A product of the Basque outfit's youth system, Llorente has suffered more than most with the team's La Liga travails over recent seasons. Indeed, in spite of the paucity of service he has received, the young front-man has had to bear criticism from a San Mames faithful disillusioned with one of Spain's historically most successful clubs.

Yet his experience toiling away at the sharp end of Los Leones' attack has been key to the player's development into an established top-flight performer, culminating in his senior debut for La Roja on 14 November 2008 in a friendly win over Chile. And four months later he would score his first goal in another friendly success, this time against England. The player’s commitment and talent earned him a place in the Spain side for the FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009, in what was his first taste international competition.

      Another looker for the ladies.

      If only...

Not much really mate, just that there's been rumours. I think they had people there to confirm Konchesky but nothings been said. :D Mugs.

Would love for Llorente to be signed out of the blue but I'm doubting it will happen. Fingers crossed tomorrow's a good one eh?
