The LFC Reds People Power thread
Mar 13, 2007 11:39:16 pm
As a powerful lobbying group - lets sock it to the machine!!
What am I talking about? The Downing Street petition list.
EddieC posted a link regarding AFC Wimbledon and I have been having a good look through the 'petitions' online and here's a selection I'm going to support if anyone's interested....
Award Bob Paisley a posthumous knighthood
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/SirBobPaisley/
(Currently up to an amazing 44,500 signatures!! - it is the 5th biggest UK petition at the moment!)
Continue funding for the Red Arrows
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/SaveTheReds/
(Come on - they are the dogs swingers)
Tony Blair: stand on your head and juggle ice cream
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/juggle/
(Up to 4,300 signatures....)

See that Red Arrows one ensured continued funding for the Red Arrows... Hurrah...
Next up....
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/PrisonPower/
We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to
Get Prisoners pedalling to produce their own power
, reduce prison costs and become sufficient
I believe that prisoners should use their time to produce energy to power their prison, prison cell or indeed electrical devices. This can be done using a pedal powered generator. I think this is a positive way to cut the cost of prisons, as it is efficient, cheap, increase prisoner’s health, physiologically and psychologically and perhaps even deter criminals from committing crimes. Prisoners pedalling may learn new skills and knowledge to take with them into the community upon their release. Admittedly, to produce a fair amount of energy many prisoners would need to pedal for long periods. However, our prisons are not short of manpower or time. Obviously there is need to explore the antecedents and rudiments of this proposal and I am sure that there will be some human rights issues involved. Albeit, I believe that this is positive way to cut costs and improve the health and lifestyle for our prisoners.
Too right!!
We saved the Red Arrows - now let's get those prisoners pedalling!!

Signed them all! It's a shame they never gave in over Paisley!
I've always thought prisoners should be put in a device creating energy! Am I sick?
