I'm really confused as to why they're out there AND Meireles is in the attacking midfield again... I'm really questioning this lineup selection by Hodgson...

Looking at the team as a 4-1-4-1 is a bit more positive, with Poulsen holding and the other 4 midfielders bombing on (as we know Meireles loves to do and as we've seen Lucas do well).

Well, for sometime now ( since I first heard of Raul), I've always known him as a central midfielder.  So, I think you have to question Roy's decision to play Meireles out of position every game. He only played central against Steaua and did really well, IMO.

I would love to have kept Aquilani but I'm not sure whether him being loaned out has anything to do with trimming the wage bill. Even so, I would have preferred if we signed Cole, Meireles, Shelvey, Konchesky and instead of Poulsen, another forward.

I would love to have kept Aquilani as well. To be honest, I'm not sure what we could've gotten in terms of a forward for an extra £4.5m going towards the fee. I mean, even if we got a forward with that money, would the fee have been truly worth the player bought? I'm not sure Carlton Cole for £13.5m would be worth it...
