I'm amazed so many are taking what he says as gospel though.

I'm taking both him and Rodgers at face value, come the close of the window, if they've stuck to their guns, they'll go up in my estimations, providing we've actually spent some F***ing money.

Personally I think they've done brilliantly this season, they have again lowered the wage bill and also improved  the squad with a 0 net spend, so I'll be mightily pissed if we don't wrap up two/three more deals as they could be  the difference in achieving this seasons goal, a goal John Henry stated was Champions League Football.

I'll wait until the transfer window has passed before I start getting excited by Henry's comments. If he has stuck to his word come then, then yesterday's comments are good yes. I'll take them with a pinch of salt for now.

I'm amazed so many are taking what he says as gospel though.

I'm not sure that would be the right phrase for how I took his words mate.

It is what I wanted to hear but more because it leaves him no hiding place if he goes back on his word while still sending out a message to the player.

I get the impression JWH has a note-pad of acceptable phrases he keeps for his footy sojourns compiled by a trusted American colleague who Henry trusts and believes knows something about Sarker (footy to me and you).
He has emphatically declared in ''read my lips'' mode that not only will Suarez not be allowed to join Arsenal which is a ''ludicrous'' idea, he will not be sold to ''any other European or domestic rival.''

What part of the universe has the man been at for 20 years?
LFC do not have European or domestic rivals for either the Champions league or the Prem because we do not compete for either trophy, the situation will not change while FSG do a passable impression of Scrooge with the purse strings.

I guess we'll all find out soon enough what kind of window it is in around 23 days time,

I would have thought that despite the lads brought in thus far Brendan would still need further additions, he has been quoted that players signed prior to the window being open were mainly signed for the future and subsequent signings were for strengthening the group intimating they would/could slot straight in,

We can all guess which positions will receive the most urgency, mine are a top CB, LB, GK, and a additional striker,

None of us what's really going on behind the scenes, only Brendan and 'tha committeh( wheel tappers & Shunters) know, oh and some bloke called Henry,

The current net spend is zip, F**k all, so  I DO expect further additions, I would be bitterly disappointed if we were done until Jan,

It would certainly say alot about ambitions if the latter happens, so lets just wait t'il Sept 3rd, you never know Brendan could still pull a couple of rabbits yet, and if not i guess we'll be the rabbits stuck in the headlights.

Actions are what we need John, not more words.  The rhetoric is getting boring now.

When the 3 new 1st teamer's have their squad numbers, I'll start to believe you.

C'mon Mr Henry, you know as well as I do this constitutes more than a zero net spend.

You want Champions League football ?

That's the goal for this season ?

Then give Rodgers the tools to do it.

Cheers for posting Blood as I was trying to find something like this which gives an idea of new revenue since FSG came in.

None of this has gone on improving the squad this summer which is unacceptable.

      £55M TV money.
£15 Standard Chartered Money (was heavily dependent on Champions League for the full £20m)
      £25m Warrior.

Three biggest incomes this season other than Gate.

      £95m.

Subtract half that being generous for general running costs. £47.5m.

Would leave £47.5m for the transfer kitty.

Hell subtract Sturrdiges and Coutinho's fee's £20.5m as if some suggest, they were signed using the eventual fee from Carroll.

      £27m  in the transfer kitty.

So with all the furious "team" recruitment activity we've had already that just leaves like £26.5m in the kitty to be spent then...?  :f_tongueincheek:

All that extra money being pocketed and yet they still have the cheek to increase ticket prices when living standards are falling for all of us.

It's a disgrace but nothing will be done about it from what I can see.

If the extra revenue was seen to be given to the manager to strengthen the squad it would make it a bit more bearable but that doesn't even seem to be happening.

It's indicative of what English football has become. Fans getting completely twatted by their own clubs. People complain about the lack of 'passion' or 'force' from the fans at Anfield these days. Is it any wonder when fans are paying that sort of money they expect a good performance and a win so why should they scream and shout? You pay, you expect something in return.
