      I think the club is trying it's hardest to make a clean slate this season.

      We've seen players allowed to leave for free, simply to free up space in the squad and save wages, which for me is very good business.

      Why hang on desperately for a tiny fee of £2 million, for example, and end up keeping the player, when you will pay him more than that over the remainder of his contract? Pointless.

      Poulsen, IMO, always seems very professional, and I have noticed always seems a good lad having a laugh with the squad in every single batch of photos posted in the Picture Thread.

      However, I will be happy for club and player amicably part ways in the near future. I for one, can not blame Poulsen for wanting to join us, or take the longest contract he could.

      Espanyol offer Liverpool misfit an escape route

      Liverpool misfit ­Christian Poulson is wanted on loan by ­Spanish side Espanyol.

      Poulson was dropped from the Danish squad earlier this week because of a lack of match action at Anfield. And Espanyol are ready to give him a chance to get some games by solving their problem position at the heart of their midfield.

      Poulson was signed up by Roy Hodgson from Juventus a year ago but has spent most of his time on the sidelines.

      Kenny Dalglish has made it clear the midfielder has no part in his plans and the Reds would be happy to get his wages off their books before the transfer window closes.

      Poulson, 31, has a good reputation in Spain having helped Seville win the Uefa Cup in 2007.

      Really hope so Mac Red.

      Have nothing against Poulson at all....has been a fine pro off the pitch for us and on a playing level he just hasn't fitted in.

      No hard feelings just looking forward to clearing some space for a few value for money signings to push us on even further.

      Good to hear that Poulsen has been dropped from the Danish squad, hopefully that will focus his mind on leaving LFC to find regular first team football.  Denmark have a good chance of getting to the Euros.  I'd rather he goes on a permanent deal for nothing (or even a small payoff :() than goes on loan.

      Espanyol are trying to negotiate a deal to take Liverpool midfielder Christian Poulsen on a season-long loan.

      The Denmark international is surplus to requirements at Anfield but is reluctant to take a drop on his £40,000 per week wages.

      Hope he ends up somewhere where he gets games and fits in and is valued by the fan base because as far as I am concerned he has been treated awfully by many of our so called supporters.

      Really terrible treatment of a player who has done nothing wrong off the pitch and on the pitch just hasn't fitted in.
