Until recently the only car Erik Ullstrand had driven was his motherās Ford Fiesta.
Now he will cruising around in a Ā£120,000 Lamborghini Gallardo after winning the 200mph car in a spot-the-ball contest.
The only trouble is it will cost Ā£600 a month to insure and he hasnāt got a no claims bonus. The IT engineer from Kensington said today he thought it was a joke when he received a phone call saying he had won the
Best of the Best competition.
āIt was only when I recognised the voice form the promotional web site where you log on to mark the ball that I began to realise it was for real,ā he said.
āIt felt totally surreal and even now I canāt believe I won.ā
Mr Ullstrand, 28, has to wait two weeks for his car to be delivered and until then he has been loaned another one so he can savour the sleek lines, racing cockpit, hand stitched leather interior and power of the five litre, V10 engine. He entered the competition by buying a ticket at Heathrow Airport when he was flying home to his parents in Sweden for Christmas. He said: āI had entered the competition for another car before, when the entry ticket cost Ā£60, and really felt rather foolish for throwing my money away. But at Christmas, the tickets had come down to Ā£20 each and it didnāt seem so bad so I entered again, even though I didnāt really think I would win.ā Mr Ullstrand, who works in Soho, will have the car delivered to his parentsā home so that he can become used to the power ā it accelerates from 0 to 60mph in four seconds ā on the wider quieter roads of Sweden before bringing it to London.
āIt is going to be a shock getting into the Lamborghini,ā he said. āThe only car Iāve ever driven is my motherās 1.1 Fiesta.ā
