4-4-2 failed against City. What's changed then?
It's still a bad idea but not for the same reasons as City. City build their game around playing at least 2 DMs and often 3, also Tevez and at minimum 1 winger are asked to drop back into the midfield to form a 5 or even 6 man midfield. Spurs don't clog the midfield as much, they play at a quicker tempo and look to get the ball to their wingers to bomb forward, we should be aiming to hold the ball in the middle and deny them those options. "But 4-4-2 plays with not 1 BUT 2 strikers, therefore it's more attacking" - The quintessential British manager handbook, published by Mike Bassett, circa 1926.
