I do not want this to happen AT ALL.  Especially if we have to part with Lucas in exchange.  Big no for me.

      Don't need him.

      NO!

However when Agger is sold for peanuts in January, we might have to look at this more seriously.

We don't need a centre half at the moment we have adequate cover here.

Do we need another centre back?

Hope this doesn't mean Roy is trying to offload Dagger.

These rumors have taken quiet a turn in the last few days.

I thought he played well today against the Chavs and I wouldn't really mind him coming in to partner Agger at CB.

Mr hoof mark 2. Extremely clumsy in the tackle as well.. Quicker than Carragher but makes Carragher look like beckenbauer in possession

He would be perfect as 4th choice at low prices. Pecking order Carra (to be rested more often)->Agger->Skrtel->Shawcross

We then buy Cahill next year to replace Carra

If the Cahill deal doesn't happen then this might be a serious deal that we'll be considering.

I like this lad, done well yesterday against a bit of a re-juvenated Torres tw*t.

      I'd have him for sure.

I thought Torres turned him quiet easily on a number of occasions.he should have won a pens for one of shawcross trademark clumsy tackles on him And overtime he seems to have the Carragher disease hoofing i call it.

he's a filthy animal. people say he's a good defender, i say he's just an uncultured thug. he can tackle, sure, when he just launches himself in people's faces.  can't pass either.

      hell no.

Definitely has a severe case of Hoofitus and just simply isn't the quality of player Liverpool should be interested in, there is absolutely nothing special about him. Belongs at a Stoke or relegation battling team as he has got fight in him but that's about it, nothing cultured, wont see anything that you can't see watching a local Sunday league team.

Disagree with that and I've watched him several times both on tv and at the Britannia. I'm one of those that moans about Carra's constant hoofing but I don't think Shawcross is that bad at all. I have no problem with a CB putting the ball in row Z on smashing it up the field to ease the pressure, sometimes that's the best option. My issue with Carragher is that he does it when he's got plenty of time on the ball in and attempt to set someone away up front. He hasn't got the passing range or vision so it generally just means wasting possession.
Shawcross is not another Agger, you're unlikely to see him bringing the ball out of defence and taking players on but he does the important things very well, putting in a crunching tackle or solid header and then laying it off to a more 'cultured' player (not easy to find in his current team  :P ).

We need a bit of grit at the back.

I dont care if whoever we sign is not a ball player. John Terry / Vidic both excellent defenders are not classed as ball players. Their job remains simple - win the ball at all costs and give it to someone that can make use of it end of.

So be it Shawcross / Cahill / Dann or anyone else providing "defending" is their first and only concern will do for me.

This. Would also want more a Skrtel than Agger, exactly as you described.
