I had Ibrahima Bakayoko in Champ' Manager back in the day, he was a world-beater in the game - I sh*t meself when the Blues signed him.  Then I actually saw him play and laughed.  Also always used to sign Oliver Collier from Oxford Utd in the early versions of the game on the Amiga, he was the game designer and put himself in there, he was fantastic.

Remember Commolli signed Gareth Bale from Southampton for 10m when he was unknown so this might not just be a rumour!

6 in 34 - Not exactly lighting up the Championship is he. Lukaku is a 17-Year old striker I'd be looking to swoop up.

Rather Lukaku for that money, too. At least he's doing it on the big stage already.

My friend is a Ispwich fan and he believe Spurs will snap him up in all fairness, they have a lot of spuds on loan there and he thinks its a bargaining chip for them to get Wickham.

He is a good player but injured at the moment, strong tall and can score.

Would describe him as a young Andy Carrol

Closer back home, Shelvey is the same case. He banged in goals for me in the game. :P

Anyway, on topic. Agree with the people in general, 10m is too steep for a 17 yr old youngster.

But the thing is, managers are first looking at English players now 'coz of the rules.
Even if Lukaku is much better, maybe because of the rules, a Connor Wickham will be preferred for the future due to his nationality.

Doesn't matter. If they are brought up in England for 3 years between 15 and 21 then they count as home grown.

I'm sure I remember Bale's figure at no more than £2M?

It was something like £10m but paying £5m at the start I think.

As for this deal, I'm not too sure. If he was scoring more goals in the championship then maybe but he isn't. As for Lukaku, he would cost a lot more but I think he'd be better than Connor.

Secondly, won't it be easier to sign Wickham from Ipswich rather than Lukaku/Hazard when half the top clubs in Europe have their eyes on them, and thus their clubs will quote astronomical transfer fees?

Not that I'm too excited with the transfer fee of Wickham quoted in the media. :-\

It is a start, Wickham is a good player with a lot of upside. It's better than over-paying for players like Poulsen and Konchesky.

5 to 8 mil would be a steal for his talents. Could you picture what he's worth at 22 if he's really good?

Hodgson should use his friends in the media that got him the job to unsettle the lad and say that we're very interested in his services but won't be held to ransom for them.

      edit:

      - We got Danny Wilson for £5m total (£2m down payment)
      - Shelvey is worth between £3.5 and £4.5m +20% of next sale going back to Charlton (£1.7m down payment)

Wouldn't pay £10m for him, not a chance.  £3m + add-ons (total not more than £8m unless full England international or £4m + 20% of next sale) would be worth looking into.  Anything more IMO is overpriced.

Not seen him play so can't judge but £10m is a heck of a lot for a 17 year old from the league below- who is also carrying a few knocks.

He sounds good and very promising but wouldn't want to pay more than £7m but that has already been rejected...
