Where do we realistically rank in the premiership?

Above the mancs always. Hell would freeze over before I said they rank above us.

But the question is "WHERE DO WE REALISTICALLY RANK"!
Unfortunately we are currently ranked 6Th IMO. Spurs have overtaken us and are now title contenders, and once City get their act together they will be too.
We are in a postion where we have to rebuild. Spurs and City have that process well under way.

In the real world, we are 8th in the league therefore we realistically rank 8th in the premiership; there can be no other way to look at it....unless there is some confusion as to what "realistic" means??

The OP said : "man for man in the squads", so any post counting tactics, calendar luck, match desserved or undesserved outcomes, injuries, manager, owners, etc... is out of topic, imo.

To have our realistic place with all these things counted it's easy : there is a real league and we are 8th.

The more interesting questions are :

- Where would you rank our first team only comparing players, man for man ?

- Where would you rank our bench and team depth only comparing players, man for man, and the number available ?

Squad? About 6th.

Surely week in and week out our 1st team and squad players are being compared in terms of performance against the opposition so I'd still say we're 8th best because that's where we are. If our players were any better then we'd be higher than 8th.

Update: we realistically rank 9th now - the table doesn't lie and is the only true way to determine how good a team/squad we have. It's easy to say hodgson is having us play below our normal level but as big a cock he is, the majority of the blame must lie with the players.

We belong in the top five IMO, but with the current mindset of players and a poor excuse of a manager mid-table seems likely ....pissed off at the moment

Home 3rd, Away 17th, Actual 11th.  You weren't far out.

17th is relegation material something Roy is actually qualified to talk about.

The quality of out squad would be 6th I reckon. Managerial wise we would be 16th if that. Roy's away stats are relegation threatening.

Realistically i'd say between 5th and 10th. Can't put my finger on a number due to our inconsistency but would probably be around 7th.

And that's being optimistic 

1Oth is about all we deserve.  as i look at that all we deserve good at home but woefull away, were living on reputation.

Mid table, at the moment anyway,

first team's really good and probably ranks 4th. squad however drags us down to 6th.

i do think we will end up finishing 7th or 8th because we have a clueless manager.

I would definitely rank us above City man for man 1st team, squad depth they out rank us hugely. Overall I would rank us 4th/5th, we might fall just behind Totts.

9th after the defeat to Newcastle on Saturday, will struggle to improve our position in the table unless our away form improves dramatically.
