It is a huge credit to King Kenny and all the players that this thread remained open this long!

To be even up in 5th is amazing.

From 1.25 pts a game to 2.06 pts a game, which would put us in 2nd this season.  I'm miffed, but in no way surprised, that no one in the press has rammed Roy's words down his throat - no manager could do better than he did - biggest joke of the season.

Europa League will be a chance for our squad players to get match action, and an opportunity for our youngsters to get experience. It will get our players  used to the grind of midweek CL football that we'll have the next year.  8)  And assuming we strengthen this summer, it will be a legitimate shot at a European title. Nothing wrong with that.  :champ:

3 points against Spurs or 4 points from our last two to get European football next year?

If you'd have offered me that in January I would have bit your F***ing hand off.

I'd have bit your hand off and ended the season the moment Hodgson was appointed mate, was always going to be a train wreck that arl b***ard.

Now City have champions league football, their gonna go on a spending spree like there's no tomorrow. And now they can offer CL, they're gonna bring in some talent for sure.

Well we did our best to challenge for 4th, if only Dalglish was appointed earlier, we would have been in the top 4 easy! Next season with a few top quality players I can see us challenging for 4th or maybe the title. Depends if FSG have enough money to get the players IMO.

Although next season, breaking into the top 4 will be harder then ever.

Arsenal - Under pressure to buy and Fabregas looks to be staying. Will always be challenging.

Chelsea - I'd imagine they'll go on a spending spree and will probably out spend us. They'll will be up there.

United - They've already been looking to spend, they'll always be a threat. Always a threat when under Fergie.

City - Well now they have CL football, I'd imagine they'll sign the world's best players, although I see Tevez leaving. I see them struggling again though, depends if they keep Mancini.

Spurs - If they get a striker they'll be a force. All their strikers currently have less goals then maxi

I can see City struggling to offload players to be honest which may F**k them up, they paid over the odds in fee's and wages for what by large is an average bunch of players.

Who's going to want to sign them and who's going to want pay their wages ?, can't see all of them taking a pay cut to get out.

Guess they'd loan em out. Like they have done so far with a lot of them this season. Maybe couple first team players might leave, Milner Johnson

I still see City spending record amounts this summer, even with the FFP rules.

I agree that it'll be very difficult selling poor players on high wages, we have a similar problem too. Jova, Poulson and Cole all on high wages and would have to take a pay cut to leave.

4th was always going to be a bit of a stretch, and quite frankly out of our hands. But hey, well done to the lads. We gave it a right go but simply ran out of games, and our tremendous current run of form arrived slightly too late (or should that be Dalglish arrived much much too late!?)
However nothing stops us from ending the season on a massive high with 5th place and a team buzzing with a new head for heights. Not a terrible way to end what has been a totally exhausting, frustrating and not to mention strange old season.
Every year we look to the next season as the one where we mount a real challenge for the Premiership. It also seems every year we fall short by varying degrees. Something tells me Liverpool are about to surprise more than a few this time around. Needless to say that I hope that I'm right.

4th woyuld have been amazing but there's no way that this is going to get me down. Besides, even though playing in the CL would make us an even bigger draw for potential signings, it would also be a massive distraction from target #1 of  winning the league.
I've every faith we'll get 5th and I can't wait for next season!

Even two draws will make it because we have a greater goal difference.

No reason to change from the optimistic view we all have.

We are playing football, attacking and scoring like no other team.

We have Gerrard, Carroll, Agger & Kelly to try and squeeze back into this team - if they can...

Other teams will not want to be playing us, as we have so many options with big Andy, Stevie, Luis, Dirk, Raul, Maxi all chipping in with goals...

We can still end this year with more points than last year.
63 last year, potentially 64 this year.

Was always a long shot, but turned out to be far from a naive dream! Which is testament to Kenny and the players.

May as well lock now Peter's stuck out his beansprout and given City 4th.
