Did Kenny play 4-3-3 during his last spell as manager? I seem to remember someone mentioning it?

Can only presume that Kenny sees something in Poulsen the rest of us don't.

As some posters have highlighted could well be a 4-3-3.

Which will be fascinating in itself.  Certainly trying something entirely new for the reds for a long long while.

When you consider that none of our wingers are naturally wide players, it could be very intriguing to see.

Talk about taking a gamble on your first game back in the league!
If we had a good away record I would agree but it is sh*te so anything that can change that is welcome.I would wait and see how they set up first.

      My guess would be:

                     Reina
      Johno  Skrtle  Agger  Kelly
               Lucas  Poulsen
      Kuyt       Meireles      Jova
                    Nando

A bit disappointed Kenny's gone for Poulsen. I didn't want to see him in a red shirt ever again. Secondly, where's Aurelio?

On the other hand, I trust Kenny.

      Come on reds!!

EDIT: Johnson is in squad ;)

Its isnt tele on England ? :D ;D. Even here in Estonia its on tele, Viasat Sport Baltics show this, if this helps , but doubt it ;)
And it is live in New Zealand so I look forward to seeing how Kenny has put some belief back into these players.

It'll probably look like this, not very attacking and I doubt Kenny would want to break the Meireles-Lucas partnership
                   Poulsen
      Kuyt Meireles Lucas Jova
                   Torres

The other option of course is with Gerrard's absence he has simply pushed all the midfielders up a place, and ding dong Poulsen has come in as the single defensive midfielder.

I don't want to tempt fate, but if true, when Lucas has been played further up the pitch, he hasn't looked too bad actually.

Anyway, we'll know all in good time.

Proper wrong-footed everyone that team has!

      Wow, Poulsen?

Is it possible it's Lucas in the hole? Or like Comatorium stated, Poulsen between back 4 and midfield 4.

Completely trust the King. However, I'm sure I'd be taking the piss if Roy selected that team.

Let's be fair on Christian Poulsen - he can do no worse than Mereiles did on Sunday. And anyway - were some of you actually thinking Poulsen would never be used ever again when Kenny became manager?

Kenny said a chance for all, I dont blame him but a few on there need booting out...

I have faith, but not in some of the players out there tonight! Then again, im not sure why but I thought Kenny would somehow name a different squad - he's back not Nicoll and Barnes!

Johnson at left back could be a possibility?  I don't really see the point in moving Kelly to the left after doing so well on the right.  And Johnson has done alright there before.

Either way I am fairly stumped at that line up but I trust Kenny to set them up better than Woy. ;)

On the other hand, I think the absence on Johnson is one of the reasons why Jova or Poulsen is in the team. All in all, I trust Kenny.

Get over it. Poulsen will be sitting deep, Lucas and Meireles will have forward freedom, with 2 outside forwards with a lot of energy for high pressing.

      Kenny knows.

Whatever it is, it doesn't matter who is selected tonight. We have to see how they fair in the tactics employed by Kenny.

A lot of hypoctites on here. If Roy put out that team he'd be called every name under the sun and it'd be nothing but complaints. I think we all know what poulson can do at this stage. Very poor from Kenny if you ask me. I hope to god i'm proven wrong.
