Getting in the refs face... worst offender?
      Jan 18, 2011 03:59:53 am
Just wondered who everyone thinks are the worst culprits of this tactic of harrassing the referee.

Rafael of United has just been charged with misconduct for his reaction towards Mike Dean on receiving his second yellow card.  Rooney saw yellow for getting in the refs face and protesting.

I think United are probably the biggest culprits when it comes to getting in the face of the referee. Fletcher is a shocker, Rooney is not far off, Rafael often looks like a man possessed when the whistle goes against him, and Rio Ferdinand is another bad one.

Torres is a bit guilty of it, maybe Drogba and Terry at Chelsea, and I am sure there are others that dont spring to mind.

At times football refs look like boxing refs having to prise players apart and shoo players away when they are trying to get a one on one discussion with a single player.
does anyone think a straight red would be appropriate for "getting in a refs face'

      Who are the worst offenders?

Roy Keane at United was another bad one.

In fairness, all players do it. I dont blame Rafael on Sunday. It was a terrible decision to send the lad off.

Agreed, was a poor decision, but seen him get away with a lot in matches and not get carded.  Maybe a bit of karma there.

The lad has a short fuse and a wicked temper, not sure he is in charge of his emotions.

I think Man United are the biggest culprits. Slur Alex is goin on about how players should respect referee but it's usually half his team that goes after them.

I was watching the video when Rooney got sent off against Fulham back in 2008/2009 and it was Fletcher and Ferdinand who went running to the referee!

Just out of topic, though. Gerrard and Tiote got sent off in the FA Cup last week, what do people make of this, then?

Probably not much contact, if any :

      Second yellow card wasn't it.

Hope the little manc c**t does get fined and Rooney too, that fat c**t has been doing it for years and Fergie has never said F**k all to any of his players to try and stop it.

I'd go further than that HR. I'd say Ferguson actively encourages his players to do it. That Jack Nicklaus saying, "the harder you practice, the luckier you get," springs to mind.

They spend so much time shouting at the ref, Rio Ferdinand is an unofficial assistant referee practically, that they eventually create their own 'luck' and as a result can shout more, get more decisions and create a cycle of media myths about themselves.

And don't forget Ryan Giggs, watch him moan about every decision that goes against them.

United Chase Andy D'Urso At Old Trafford

Probably wasn't a penalty but look at that, 5/6 players chasing the ref.

The top youtube comment was 'Typircal germans/isn't that what germans do?' :lmao:

Look at how long ago that was and all the usual sh*te from the FA about clamping down followed. And the mancs have carried on acting like that ever since.

Every team does it. Mascherano was horrid with it. Carragher does it a lot too I feel. But no teams are as bad as the Mancs and Chelscum.

Mascherano used to do and Carragher does it but I hardly (if ever) see 4/5 of our players actually go chasing the ref.

I'd agree with that. Masch was terrible for it and Carra always has a go, but the worst are most certainly Utd. It's almost as if they think they should be able to get away with anything and when a decision does go against them it's F***ing outrageous or something.

The biggest thing for me is waving the imaginary card that proper gets on my tits and sadly i have seen a few of our lads do it.

Rafael does much the same and get's a £8,000 fine.
