Talksport saying that Suarez can play in uefa cup because uefa cup have become more relaxed on the rules. Can't find link but I'll just throw it in here. Fantastic news if true.

I've read this seasons rules, and according to those he can't play. Exactly the same situation as when Maxi joined us last season. I somehow doubt they'll change the rules mid season, so at best those new rules will take effect next season. Talkshite. Ofcourse I'd love to be proved wrong.

A friend of mine told me that now players from the UEL can play the UCL for another club, and vice-versa. That means Torres can play for Chelsea in the UCL, and Suarez can play for us in Europa League.

I haven't checked the information though.

Players could already play in the CL if they played in the EL according to this season's rules. The difference with Torres playing in the CL is that he can't run into us, while Suarez could end up playing Ajax.

      rules: http://en.uefa.com/MultimediaFiles/Download/Regulations/competitions/Regulations/01/48/48/90/1484890_DOWNLOAD.pdf

      Quote
18.07 As a rule, a player may not play in a UEFA club competition (i.e. UEFA
Champions League and UEFA Europa League, but not UEFA Super Cup) for
more than one club in the course of the same season. Exceptionally,
however, a player who has been fielded in the first, second or third qualifying
round of the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League is entitled to
play in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League for another
club as from the group stage, provided that his former club did not qualify for
the group phase of either the UEFA Champions League or the UEFA Europa
League; moreover, as from the start of the round of 32 (round of 16 for UEFA
Champions League), a player can be registered in accordance with
paragraphs 18.17 to 18.20 below. For the avoidance of doubt, a substitute
player who has not been fielded is entitled to play for another club competing
in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League in the course of
the same season, provided that he is registered with the UEFA
administration in accordance with the present regulations.

18.18 One player from the above quota of three who has played UEFA club
competition matches for another competing club in the current season may
exceptionally be registered provided that the player has not been fielded:
− in the same competition for another club; or
− for another club that is currently in the same competition.
Furthermore, if the player’s new club is playing in the UEFA Europa League,
his former club must not have played in the UEFA Europa League at any
      point in the current season

The more I hear about Suarez, the more I'm impressed. First out a lot of the time at training, captain of Ajax, this guy sounds like a leader, someone with a bit of F***ing backbone. Lookin forward to seeing him play.

Kenny said he hasn't trained yet...

      Will he be playing tomorrow?

I think he should be cleared to play but I dunno if he will.

I think he will be on the bench if that because he hasn't played for 7 games so he won't be match fit. Looks like Chelsea may be his first test. Hope he gives Terry a hard game and makes his presence felt with a few solid but well timed challenges

Suarez does look like a good signing and his record speaks for itself, however call me a pessimist but I do wonder what other clubs were in the bidding process for him, £22.8 million for a player of his ability seems like a steal, especially when we paid more for a player who is a lot more well known and local, did Real, Barca, AC, Arsenal, Manu etc not see him on their radars as I'm sure they could have found the cash?

Thought about that myself but if you look at the big clubs you'll see they already have a good set of forwards. Apart from R Mudrid who got Adebayor on loan because Higuain is currently injured. Barca was seriously interested in Suarez last year but decided to stick with Pedro instead.
Im fairly sure he'll be an instant hit.

As It's been said It's a shame his arrival has been over shadowed by other matters shall we say, but a player we all wanted to see here, I don't think any of us are expecting him to score as many as he did in the Eredivisie that would be a miracle but I'm sure he'll be firing them in when he gets use to things, our most exciting signing since you know who for me.

Class that, thanking Ajax's fans. Not like a certain guy whose name I've forgotten.
