New Look Liverpool!

Basically I'm curious as to how (when all fully fit) our Liverpool team will line up? Will be going back to a 442? What about a 4411 or 4132?

I'm excited no doubt, but I'm also curious as to who will play centrally? Meireles and Gerrard are no doubts our best central midfielders, but neither of them would be great defensively. So do you drop one for Lucas? or play Gerrard/Meireles out wide?

Either that or do you think for the rest of the season we'll play narrow and in the summer buy some wingers? Or could we promote from within? Exciting times a head for us reds. I can't wait.

Kenny's team selection against Blackpool has scared me into ever trying to guess what he will do first.

Quality looking team with players willing to work hard for the team

I'm finding it hard to fit a team together, especially if you take into consideration Adam and Young who were wanted but couldn't be bought.

But that is the point lads, a team capable of winning the league has to be in a situation in which you have to leave good players out of the starting XI.

Really hope Cole sees his form improve too, would like to see a flying Joe Cole at Liverpool.

Agreed. I think Kenny will go 4-3-3, with Lucas as the 'base' of the midfield trio with Gerrard and Miereles licence to interchange in front.

Maxi / Kuyt - Carroll - Suarez as a front trio could be very tasty

I would imagine Young would have played on the left of a forward three and Adam would have competed with Gerrard and Raul for a place in the midfield as he is not good enough defensively to play as the sitting or defensive midfielder.

I'm more interested in who will be replaced from the 1st team in the summer to complete the new look liverpool. The weak links must surely be:

As to who they might be replaced with is anyone's guess. Ashley young for Maxi would be a good start...

What i have found with Kenny is that there is no rigidity, he trusts the players to make space, move into attacking positions, come inside if need be. He also trusts their discipline to fall back into position when we lose the ball. We now press a lot more as well.

Formations very rarely stay in sync, opponents tactics and styles all differ. Kenny has let these lads express themselves and given them belief. Most importantly, he has let them know that he trusts them to go out and just play football and enjoy playing it.

Maxi for Kuyt and am with ya.

I don't really see Suarez as a winger, more as a striker who'll get out of the box and sometimes go down the right flank. That's why I want Kuyt in the team to balance it, he could do all the running so then the other lads will shine. Pretty much like he did in the World Cup for Netherlands, when he played on the left, as Robben and Van Persie hardly track back.

And I'm really tired of Maxi. Maybe I'm a bit too harsh on him but that's how I feel. He's invisible for most of the time, nearly every game. I prefer Kuyt making mistakes but at least being up for the game than someone who seems afraid of the ball.

By far the strongest lineup I've seen in a while.

I think Carrol is far more mobile than John Toshack. The question is without natural width in the team how will we exploit his strength in the air. I dont think Raul is suitable to play the Mascherano role so that has to be Lucas.
If Joe Cole gets his finger out and plays to his potential he will be a good buy but so far he is dissapointing.
Cant wait for tomorrow to see Suarez and maybe Ngog as a target man up front.

That team should finish in 6th place easy but make ground on the others above us too. Still two wingers and two full backs away from being a top side again.

Cole havent done anything be in the starting line up. so why are you including him? give him 15 min end of every game, if he shows improvement then he should get a start.
and i wouldnt drop kuyt just yet, even if he havent any good games lately but with his work rate he always comes through with a assist or goal, and all that defending we are under pressure.

I don't really post on here but would just like to add that I'm quite excited with our new look Liverpool especially if Carroll and Suarez turn out to be like Toshack and Keegan.  F**k yeah!  can't wait to see them two playing together.  In King Kenny I trust 100%.

Want to see a 4-3-3 with Suarez, Carroll and Maxi as the front 3. Kuyt would be great for coming on later on in the game and hounding tired defences. As would the young boys assuming we're ahead.

To be fair to Cole though he started his career with a suspension followed by injury after injury. Maybe he hasn't done anything in a red shirt yet but would you prefer the likes of jovanovic, maxi? They are far too inconsistent and times look like they don't want to be there.

We all no what a player Joe Cole was, our opinions just differ whether hes passed it or not. Personally, i don't think he is and if he can prove his fitness then whether hes done anything in a red shirt is irrelevant for me due to the fact hes only been here a matter of months and throughout his career hes shown what he's capable of.

I like this but it certainly has no width whatsoever. Would bring the best out of Cole though, in a free roaming role behind the two strikers.

I'd play Cole to the right with suarez slightly left but tucked behind Carroll. We haven't got the pace to play really wide so we should play narrow with full backs pushing up a bit.

i think we've really seen Lucas develop as a player, he used to be absolute dogshite and now a fair few of us include him in our starting line up, i'd have to with a 433, or maybe something like 4312, no doubt carroll and suarez up top with possibly Cole behind them, cannot wait for tomorrow!

Mate I am very happy with this selection and i'd love to see it happen!  I know Cole hasn't done anything yet but I have every faith that given the chance he is gonna be a top Liverpool player.  I sense good times ahead! YNWA

New look is not bad, but I prefer it withouth Cole and Maxi.

I'm expecting a 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-4-1, similar to what we have been using.  I would not be surprised to see Suarez on the right side of the three players supporting the striker, similar to where Kuyt plays now.  He'll drift in that right channel, like Henry did for Arsenal on the left.  Or he may play in 'the hole.'

I'm certain we won't be returning to a flat/orthodox 4-4-2.

Not sure what will happen in between Carroll coming back from injury.  Ngog up top?  Or will Suarez be tried out up front on his own?

Would give Johnson 10 games or so on the wing, he's pacey, can beat a man, has a decent cross. Can do everything Kuyt can't. If Glen didn't work out I'd stick Gerrard there move Cole centre or give Dani a go.

Seeing that Kenny was after Charlie Adam and a winger (we don't actually know who) amongst the rest of our new signings, and given the fact we've played 4-3-3 under Kenny mostly this is the idea I think he was going to set up.

It suits every player to there best positions. Having looked at this I'm pretty confident we'll be in for at least 3 big signings in the summer. A left back, a left middle, and possibly a right winger and a left winger.

One thing we can't do is start Suarez on the left side of midfield. I've seen quite a few formations with this and i sort of understand where it is coming from but i would prefer him to play a lot more central but be given a free role type position if necessary. One of the main issues for the new look Liverpool is who to play in the centre with Gerrard because if Meireles plays then it is one hell of an attacking team with no one to sit back to protect the back four. I would welcome a central 3 in the midfield...

I can't argue with that formation or selection either. The good thing is now we have options, and if Kenny wants to do something, he is strong willed enough to go with his instinct. Good times are on the way.

Remember when Rafa first came to the club and brought in new signings like Xabi, Garcia and a few others, and we could really see a new side. One capable of bigger and better things. I really get the feeling that this could be the start of a big period for Liverpool under Kenny Dalglish and this is only the start of him shaping a new side.

They're cooler on the ball at the back aswell. Building moves instead of hopeful breaks. Great to watch at the moment we are.

I was always thinking when are we going to buy strkers because that was our main problem ...if torres was playing good or he was not available, there was no one who could take the responsibility to score goals.Iam very hapy that it have happened ,we have two good strikers and it wil even be very good if we add one more top class striker next season.

This I think is the best one, I really would like to see Pacheco though push through and take over that LW spot, either that or would love to see us sign Edin Hazard over the summer, both of those kids are quality, Pacheco much younger tho I believe.
