Liverpool 1-1 Wigan: In Game and Post Match Disappointment

A bit more quality on the ball in the final third and we could have carved out a few more good chances.

Thought we missed Agger and we missed Meireles when he went off. Internationals in midweek didn't help either. Credit to Wigan though, they had a go at us when they could and tried to play football. We were asleep fore their goal and it was a stupid one to concede - even if it was offside.

It's not gonna be all smooth running every game. We're still a long way off the best we can be. But we're improving. Not so long ago we would have lost that game without a fight.

I didn't get a chance to see the match. Could someone tell me; did we go 4-4-2 or what?

5 is decent for me. The 4.5 of Carra was a 5 minus 0.5 for a silly foul and the bad defense organization on the goal (he is the guy who shout "mark him" usually). Kelly and Johnson where decent, but one was absent in attack in second half and the other advanced but useless.

I agree Suarez was the best player on the field. Have I criticized Suarez ?

We let in a goal due to misunderstanding between our defenders. I know You didnt criticize Suarez, what i meant to say was that i agree with you on Suarez and Suarez alone.

Agreed. Kuyt and Jovanavic were shockingly bad.
Seemed Kuyt absolutely wasted every opportunity that came his way.

To get to where we want to be there can be no place for Kuyt, Maxi, Aurelio, Skrtel and Jovanovich. In fact what has Jovanovich done to justify getting the nod today. Pacheco should request a move in the summer

Why were we so lack lusture today? Was it the "its only Wigan" attitude. Can we still not adapt the same approach to them as we would to Chelsea?

I can't comment on the game but when I read the team sheet I was wondering how the midfield would fair, lacking (as it appeared) in a bit of flair - Maxi, Meireles, Lucas & Aurelio don't exactly fire the imagination.

We have a way to go but we'll get there.

I honestly believe that attitude didnt cost us the game. Reds were running their socks off. its just that when meirless went off. suarez was our only creative player left and he was unlucky to not to get a goal today.

No width, no creativity or flair and few occasions when our players did try to cross. they were either totally off the target or our strikers wasnt in front goal. Suarez isnt the best header of the ball so i feel that kuyt should have atleast be in front of the goal to pick up some rebounds or crosses since he knew he wasnt having a good game.

Looks like we're prefering the diamond in midfield. If we keep it then I would hope in the future we mainly use Stevie and Raul in the centre. Lucas deep. The change from Chelsea was- we dropped a defender and played two up front. I didn't like how it panned out. Does not work near as well without Dagger either

If you look at it we could of easierly won the game 3-1 with Suarez hitting the woodwork there we just need the luck to be on our side.

look at our team, look at the midfield, it was a load of crock, lucas was very tired from his 90 mins in mid week with 10 men remember

maxi is just always maxi, useless. kuyt again the same, then meireles went off which made it even more difficult. we had a left back in midfield, also then to top it off we had our 120k per week superstar coming on to add more sh*te to the shiteness

patients is what we need, give the club time to ship out the rubbish then we can rebuild, there will be a few more games like today coming
