Digressing slightly from Dann - but I noted that Rovers have more or less agreed to sign Sol Bamba from Leicester so I fancy Wenger may be lining up Dann & Samba

Will be dissapointed if we miss out on him unless if we get Cahill.

Quite sure we'll get one or the other, if I had to place a bet would now be Cahill and I saw him at 25/1 not long ago to us and thought that was too big a price but never bet on transfers

Liverpool FC have been left baffled by reports claiming they are set to lose out to Arsenal in the race for Birmingham City’s Scott Dann.

The Reds haven’t made an approach for the defender and he is not a transfer target.

Not a single concrete activity for a CB at the moment, just rumors. A bit worrying though we still have time to make a deal for one good rock solid.

Not surprised with that, to be honest ... I can understand LFC going for Cahill, since he could develop into a LFC starter, but I really never saw the logic in going for Dann, who is of lower quality and hasn't played competitive football for 8 months ...

Did he really say that.  I'd question his sanity if he did.  Arsenal need two good centre halves, a goalkeeper and some steel in CM.  They probably need a left back too.  If I were an Arsenal fan, with Fab and Nasri going, I'd be worried.

But back on topic, Dann or Cahill...... can't make my mind up.  I suppose Cahill would be better.

Scott Dann has been offered to QPR after Liverpool and Arsenal declined to follow up their interest.

Liverpool are set to seal an £8million move for Uruguay international Sebastian Coates, while Dann is only viewed as a contingency plan by Wenger should moves for Phil Jagielka, Gary Cahill, Chris Samba and Per Mertesacker fail to materialise.

QPR now have the financial backing of Tony Fernandes while Birmingham are desperate to offload high earner Dann before the transfer window closes.

Feel bad for dann...he must have had so many sleepless nights thinking about joining us...who can blame him.
I hope that QPR for his sake really invest and his move doesn't become a one season nightmare for him.
Still think Arse could do with him as could we before Agger completed 3 games in a row and Skrtel picked up from last seasons fine form AND Coates imminent arrival.

Still think he'd be a good option for us - depending on how ready Coates is.  If he is ready for first-team football, then we don't need Dann, but if he is not ready yet, with Carra's age and Agger's injuries, I think we could do with Scott.  As a lifelong Red, you'd expect he would be happy to sit on the bench.

Fitting really that a thread which started on the back of speculation from Sky Sports, linking us with Dann, ends with Sky Sports telling us he's off to Blackburn.

Would have been good cover on the bench, but they were vastly over inflating the price.  I believe they wanted £13m+ at one stage.  Be interesting to see what fee was agreed.
