Can Henderson be our full time right midfielder?

So with the likes of Coady, Spearing, Shelvey, Lucas and Adam all battling it out for years to come for a place in centre midfield, can Jordan Henderson be an effective right midfielder?

He is starting to show glimpses of his skill crossing and ability and finishing which made him a prized asset at Sunderland just last season.

I know its early in his career but surely if we don't sign anyone then Henderson will be a good option..thoughts?

Still think he should be played centrally. He's more suitable in the centre because he can pass pretty decently.

Doesn't exactly have the attributes to be a winger in terms of pace and beating a player, IMO, but he surely can cross a ball.

Perhaps can play there off an on but definitely not full time/permanent for me.

Give Henderson the Mcmanaman role bring back the glory days !

I have to agree with the other sentiments on here.  We are not getting the best out of Hendo when used on the right.  He is certainly not a RW, but is a bit better suited to a more withdrawn RM position.  Still, he is best utilized in the center where his ball control, vision, and passing can help to dictate play and create chances for others.  We need a true winger for the RW position - someone who can beat a man 1v1, get to the end-line and drag balls back across the box that cry out to be finished.

I don't think he's the solution to our right wing. Certainly a quality midfielder.

Never in a million years, I'd rather play Johnson there than Henderson to be honest.

Change the discussion to right midfielder and does anybody think he can make it there..because i actually meant midfielder..right winger is in the strikers end of the pitch..heno will never play there

Agreed.  I can see why he plays right side, he does have a good cross on him.  Problem with Henderson atm is that, for a right sided midfielder, his defensive ability is very poor and he drifts in way too much leaving the right side exposed or unavailable for passing.

Would like to see him in the middle and see what he can offer in a run of games next to a defensive midfielder instead of occupying that right side.

Needs time to develop imo before he can play in the centre on a regular basis. At the moment most of his good work has seemed to be instinctive when he hasn't had time to think. I think he is still learning to pick the right pass when he has time and it's much easier for him to progress out wide than in the centre. 

Maybe if we had a top winger things might be different, but at the moment he is catching no harm out there, gaining experience and doing a reasonable job.   

All-action central midfielder for me, best in a 3 man midfield with a Lucas-type behind him so he can roam free. Just because he can cross a ball doesn't make him a right winger.

He is a centre mid long term. What did Stevie call the right wing all them years ago, the grave yard shift. We got Hendo to replace Stevie in my opinion wether that works out is another matter. I know you cant compare the two at the moment, but Kenny can obviously see something special or we would not have paid so much.

Depends on the system we will be playing. In the 4-3-3, he is probably the perfect right-sided midfielder for the future.
