      Liverpool's Affair With Europe
      May 27, 2011 07:29:15 pm
I figured I should share these with the others. I know we've had amazing nights at Anfield throughout the years like against Chelsea, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona but this is specially a collection of the three UEFA Cups and of course five European Cup/Champions League Finals.

Especially for new fans on the forum and whom were never old enough to witness our past European successes, like myself. So, to all the older generation of Reds, I'll let you relive the memories of those epic nights and to the younger generation, let's see how Keegan-Toshack combined and how the past trophies were won! :)

      UEFA Cup 1973
The final was played over two legs but I only put the home leg. Liverpool won the cup with an overall aggregate of 3-2.

First leg - Liverpool 3-0 Borussia Mönchengladbach
      Liverpool goals: Keegan (2), Lloyd

      UEFA Cup 1973

Second leg - Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-0 Liverpool

      UEFA Cup 1976
This was also played over two legs. Liverpool 4-3 Club Brugge K.V. overall score.

First leg - Liverpool 3-2 Club Brugge K.V.
      Liverpool goals: Kennedy, Case, Keegan

      1976 UEFA Cup Final Highlights - Liverpool_V_Bruge (1st Leg)

Second leg - Club Brugge K.V. 1-1 Liverpool
      Liverpool goal: Keegan

1976 Uefa Cup Final 2nd leg FC BRUGGES v LIVERPOOL

      UEFA Cup 2001

      Liverpool 5-4 Alaves
Liverpool goals: Babbel, Gerrard, McAllister, Fowler, Geli (own goal)

      2001 Uefa Cup

At the risk of posters hating me for repeating myself I must say my love affair with the REDS in Europe has to start with us beating Inter Milan at Anfield on the Wednesday night  after we won the F.A.Cup for the first time in 1965.The atmosphere was electric and Inter never stood a chance.I was in the KOP that night and the gates were locked well before kickoff. That season the club were selling raffle tickets for the away European tie with the proceeds going to the ground development fund.No I did not win but I did win a prize for the semi final of the F.A.Cup against Chelsea at Villa Park.
