Why do we need a player badly who has been poor pretty much the whole season thus far?

So we will be playing the U'21s by your logic then given how bad most the team has been.

Tireless and relentless again yesterday and his passing?... It seems to have went unnoticed but it was F***ing sublime.

I agree about his passing yesterday Mouse.  He was back to his very best again but his passing was on another level.

He's not been poor at all, most of time he's been doing the right thing and if he's been caught out there's been nothing he can do about it. How many times is the lad going to have to prove people wrong before you people see he's a real talent.

Just seen on MOTD that only four players have more league assits than Hendo since the start of last season.

Seemed to have a cracker of a game today by the looks of things.

      He was excellent mate.
A really good all round performance of the type we've come to expect from him, full of energy, power and pace with some good passing and an end result.

Bloody good considering we're not exactly prolific this season either.

Seems to be improving, all the time, with more confidence than the past. Not everyone will agree with me on this, but certainly looks a future Liverpool captain

Must say find it strange Jordan is in the last 2 years of his contract after the 18 months or so he's had.
Forget Sterling this lad is the priority

Hendo is massive for both club and country. he is so good that according to this article, when hendo got subbed off, both lallana and chamberlain replaced him ;D

      http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/172159-reds-play-their-part-in-san-marino-rout

      >Hodgson named Henderson and Sterling in his starting XI for the tie, but opted to withdraw the pair at the interval, with Lallana coming off the substitutes' bench to replace Henderson and operate in an advanced role behind Rooney.

      and

      >It was 3-0 to the Three Lions shortly after the restart when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, introduced in place of Henderson, slid a cross to his Arsenal teammate Welbeck, who finished from close range.

      * tsk tsk phil reade, you should proof read your stuff :D

His progression has been really amazing but is he lacking attributes that put him in the top class category?
I do remember last season and the red card and our decline as a result. It makes me think that we rely on him too much.

      Yep, spot on mate.

Love it if he scored 10-15 a season. He's got it in him, he gets up the pitch enough.

He's probably one of the most overrated players in recent memory.  I suspect it's because of the stick he got during his first two seasons.  He was absolutely wretched during pretty much all of 2011/2012 and 2012/2013.  He was poor for most of the beginning of last season as well, then when Stevie got injured, he had to step up in January and boy did he ever.  That 5-0 game against Spurs was sort of his coming out party.  He bossed the game and was absolutely everywhere.  He had a very solid back half of the season after that.

But that's about it.  So basically he's gone from being one of the worst buys in recent memory to being a pretty good footballer.  And because people felt so sorry for him they tend to overrate his progress now.  He's good, but he doesn't have that top class level that we used to have with Xabi, Mascherano, Stevie in his prime etc.  He flatters to deceive because he works so hard on the pitch, everyone really wants him to do well in the other departments as well.

But he wouldn't make it into the midfield of any other top four team.  And we need top, top midfielders if we're going to be aiming for winning the league year in and year out.

He does seem to improve himself in a gradual way though, maybe because his main job is closing down space, he's always running around; He doesn't get the luxury of being able to stay in one spot.
So he can't be like Alonso, staying static and recycling the ball.

We do need top top midfielder's no doubt, for future success.

I think Jordan has been a little below last seasons form so far this season. He is not imposing himself on games in the way he was last season, not getting forward as often and not creating as much.

Still working hard, still passing well, but like most of the team hasn't yet hit top form.

Why is Henderson, Allen, Gerrard not scoring goals for us?

We need goals from midfield and we're being let down badly by Henderson et al
