Anyone explain why he hasn't signed a new contract yet? Seems to have been on the verge of doing so for over a year

Hopefully because we've put his wages aside for Pogba next season.

Still don't think he's up to the standard required to be Captain.

He's a good player, but Captain? Don't see it

I would hope that the captain would be, in terms of quality, someone who absolutely cannot be dropped.

and if Rodgers sees Jordan Henderson as a player who is so good that he cannot be dropped, then we're in a lot of trouble.

I say give the captaincy to Sakho.

It could be due to whether he'll become Club Captain next season mate.

Henderson is attaining that status with every game, something of coarse you are loathe to acknowledge for reasons best known to yourself.

Just read this fantasy comment that would have made any other opinion by this poster completely ridiculous.

I'm sure it was just a blip but he was piss poor today. I mean really just horrible. Hope it's out of his system now and he'll get back to normal.

Did enjoy his dustup with Naismith.

why would it be a blip?  and what is "back to normal"?

He was awful for his first two seasons.  Last season around Christmas he turned into a completely different player and was top class for the second half of the season.  This season he's been hit and miss.

So is normal the way he was for the first two seasons?  or the way he's been for basically half a season?

anyway yes he was terrible in the derby.  but so was Allen.  And Gerrard.

Wouldn't mind totally gutting the midfield in the offseason to be honest.  Move Can to DM, build from there.

It's a blip because for the past month or so Henderson had rediscovered his good form of last season. One bad match, in a derby, doesn't change that and is therefore a blip.

Hendo is class and will be our captain hopefully for the next 7-8 seasons. His end product is getting better all the time and when you add that to the work he gets through he can be like having 2 players at times. He will break play up and contribute with a handy amount of goals and assists in a season if he is asked to play box to box.

Our midfield without Jordan usually means we don't win. Sakho only cemented his spot this season and threw his toys out the pram when he missed the squad last year. Doubt Brendan would look on that as captain material.

Definitely the next skipper, Jordan. Deserved.

needs a new deal sorting out soon also WTF is going on in the board room with contract deals we make an offer, they reject it we say what do you think you should be on if we dissagree and cant meet in the middle we sell.

Hendo will sign any deal as he's a top example of a footballer who doesnt on the surface seem motivated by money like some of our players.

Even when he doesn't have a great game, he is still crucial to the way we play. That makes him undroppable.
Just how, just having Andy Carroll for West Ham on the pitch ensures a more agricultural style of play, or David Silva enables for a methodical build-up play for City, Henderson enables a frenetic, fast paced style of play for us.

Growing in stature with every game he plays and to be honest with you, I think we'll see the best of him next season when he's not in Stevie's shadow.....absolutely love him to bits.

Totally agree with this. I don't think it's a coincidence that he played well below par recently due to Stevie's presence in the starting XI.

I fully expect to see a marked improvement and return to form with Stevie's injury and absence. He'll have the freedom to express his own game again. It just remains to be seen who will be played instead of Lucas and whether or not that will curtail Hendo's style of play and confidence in bombing further up the pitch.
