How on earth is our midfield the reason we leak goals? Have you seen our defenders try to defend? Have you even looked at the man in goal who may as well have tits for hands? There's your reason

Personified the headless performance from the team today.
As the Captain he was running around like a idiot selling himself when we needed to tighten up play and try and catch them on the counter.

      Completely brainless performance today.

Keep saying it and saying it,  and I'll say it again, his distribution is poor from deep, and he doesn't have the defensive tactical knowledge that a natural #6 has, and when under the cosh, he doesn't know how to take command and control of his midfielders.
I just wish Klopp would have bought a proper 6 and have Hendo back in his natural #8 role in the summer. Still think Hendo is our best #8, and probably better than Lallana too.

When things are going good, I've noticed everyone shouting or talking/directing.
When things are bad, no one takes responsability.  Everyone looks at everyone with no direction.  A leader, he is not, because he cannot do it. No disrespect, 'cause he can do it on his day, he is decent, but they are too few and far between.
The only thing I will say, is when we are good together, we are. But when we are bad together, we look for scapegoats, but in reality, we are sh*te together as well. Bad day,   But who else will be captain?

Awful performance today, exactly when you need the deepest midfielder to control and dictate play he does his best impression of a drunken pub player.

Not sure what's wrong with him but his passing is deteriorating by the week.

Coming to the conclusion that Klopp's experiment of turning him into a defensive Mid might be back firing.

It will never happen with Hendo, he doesn't have the attributes to play the #6 role, and he will never shift the ball from deep as good as a specialist. But equally as frustrating is that he has the mindset to press than patrol for the majority of the match because that is his natural game.

I get that Klopp likes his #6's to press at times, but as often and as high as Hendo does? Why even have Can and Wijnaldum in the team if you have Hendo wanting to press at every opportunity? Would we not be stronger having a specialist that presses less but patrol and manage the game more? Would it actually be detrimental to our high pressing? I don't think it would as our #8's would probably be doing the pressing than having to worry about covering the #6 area.

Tell me, what does Hendo actually do that makes him stand out in the #6 role for us? All he does his harry/press and support/cover, right? Put Ox or Drinkwater in that role, and you'd still get the same outcome as what Hendo offers. However, you stick a specialist DM or DLPM and you get a different kettle of fish, from game management to defensive awareness and positional play.

Look, I am not saying Hendo is a sh*t player, I think he could have been just as good, if not better than Rakitic (seriously) in the #8 role, but he is just not the right player for the #6 role, and never will be, and if we get the right player in, I really do think it will fix a lot of our defensive problems.

I agree with this. Jordan's athleticism is better than Cans. Can is a better tackler and is to slow to be box to box. But until Jordan's passes are better he can't complain about anything. Once again another night of crap passing from him. It's weird because up until this year I always thought it seemed to be a strength. Either way the kid has to step up and show the world why he wears that armband. We need leadership on the pitch and he is suppose to give us more.

Can simply doesn't have the discipline or spacing awareness to play there.

Put simply whilst Hendo was poor last night he's more self sacrificing than Emre and (bluntly) more committed.

He didn't have a good game but he wasn't the one at fault in that goal. He's covering Gomez so is out toward the right touchline and is marking a player. I'd point out Can who's close to Correa but he's ball watching and is completely unaware. Look at the half hearted start of a jog when he realises there's a player in so much space behind him. At least Henderson is covering a run down our right, with Gomez is out of position. Can is just standing there like an expensive lawn ornament.

There is always excuses for Henderson. He can have a good game but he is never taking the game by storm in Midfield when he makes a couple positive passes we all get excited. We should be expecting so much more from our captain.

I don't think DM is the best position for him, he isn't a good tackler and doesn't have quality to execute 9/10 of the passes he sees. He should be playing an box to box role as one thing he does have in his locker is an engine to get forward.

Honestly think if he wasn't made captain he would be on our bench.

He is a 6 or 7 out of 10 week after week.

      no better, no worse.

matches can pass him by without a problem, every now and again he will find someone with a 40 yard ball. Then thats your lot

The only one I saw out of position and half heartedly jogging was Hendo in that clip.

Let's not kid ourself he's not a DM.

Both were out of position mate but Hendo did at least make a effort to sprint back.
Can decided to comb his hair instead.

Agree Hendo is a very poor substitute for a DM but that's not his fault he is an attacking midfielder by nature being asked to do something which is beyond his skill set.

From my view and I agree with your observation they were both poor in their reaction but Henderson is really the "protector" of that back 4 hence I find his lack of effort even more unacceptable.

I never saw him as an attacking midfielder either lacked the technique always thought he was a box to box one. He's injury has limited his ability to be that and feels like Klopp is trying to accommodate his captaincy status having him in the side. Square peg in round hole.

I think that's why Klopp was so desperate to get Keita in this season.

Hendo would become a bench player and Keita would play next to Can in CM.

I also think VVD would have been handed the captain's armband if he had signed.

These 2 signings would have changed the whole dynamic of the squad for the better.

Could it be because Henderson is f**king useless in attack? In all seriousness this lad needs dropping to the bench for a few games to get his head right, it looks like his confidence is all shot, he seems to panic whenever the ball is played to him.

Aren't attacking midfielders supposed to be able to score goals though?? Henderson is even worse at that than he is defending. I actually think the problem with our defence stems a lot from Henderson, in all seriousness if we had Mascherano playing in this role then the defence would feel much more comfortable.
Klopp needs to be brave and drop him, play Matip in the DM role until we can recruit a proper one or maybe even Gomez, both have a decent pass on them and like to come forward some times.
