Russia was never a communist country ... It was a pure dictatorship, where the Tzarist regime was only replaced by the Bolshevik regime ... It had nothing to do with a true communist society ... Yugoslavia (my former country) on the other hand, had many attributes of a true communist society ...

Bakunin correctly predicted that Marxism would result in a pure dictatorship everywhere it was implemented.  There is no such thing as a "true communist society" there is only communism as implemented in practice.

Former Chelsea chief Hiddink in line for Russian job

      Tuesday, September 6

Former Chelsea coach Guus Hiddink is being lined up as the next coach of mega-rich Russian club Anzhi.

Hiddink is currently in charge of Turkey but they face a battle to reach the European Championships next summer as Germany have run away as the clear winners in Group A.

Reports in Russia suggest that Anzhi's billionaire owner Suleyman Kerimov has lined up the experienced coach as his first choice to lead the side next year when his contract expires as Turkey manager.

Kerimov is determined to make his Russian side one of the biggest in Europe and has already showed they mean business with the signings of Samuel Eto'o, Roberto Carlos and Yuri Zhirkov.

He is now hoping that Hiddink will accept the chance to lead the side and is set to be offered a bumper salary.

Don't want to put a spanner in the works BUT the topic is the league and not politics and to boot with what was said earlier about the amount of wages being paid out in contrast with the money the clubs are ACTUALLY making there's not going to me much chance of seeing the clubs play in th CL if there affairs are not in order, ie living within there means !

Even if they become the 5th strongest European league, behind the Premier League, Primera Division, Serie A and Bundesliga, it will still be a huge achievement ...

To you it would but to the people throwing money into these clubs and the league well I assume they want to see the league be among the best, not 2nd rate league

Well, if they become the 5th strongest league in Europe, ahead of the French Ligue 1, you can hardly call the Russian Premier Liga a 2nd rate league anymore ... Catching up with the next 2 leagues (Serie A and Bundesliga) will be a far more difficult task ...

Anzhi want Capello now according to the Mail.  Sadly it will only be after the Euros.

And that's only because Jose has already turned them down.

World-famous football player signs for who?

      By Shaun Walker in Makhachkala
      Saturday, 17 September 2011

A billionaireā€™s plans to bring peace to a troubled region through football have been bolstered by the arrival of one of the worldā€™s most famous players.

In one of the most unexpected transfers in the history of football, 30-year-old Cameroonian Samuel Etoā€™o was officially unveiled last week as a player for Anzhi Makhachkala, and is now believed to be the best paid footballer in the world.

Anzhi, who play their home games in the violence-stricken republic of Dagestan in southern Russia, were bought by local oligarch Suleiman Kerimov in January. Since then, he has embarked on a spending spree of nearly Ā£100m that has involved bringing several world-famous names to the club of which Etoā€™o is the biggest.

Etoā€™o was unveiled to the home fans in Makhachkala last weekend, with around 8,000 people packing into the teamā€™s Dinamo Stadium to greet the player and watch a training session. As he came out onto the pitch, children dodged security guards and attempted to embrace the player, who looked somewhat embarrassed as the children were grabbed and escorted off by the truncheon-wielding guards.

Due to the security situation in Dagestan, where a local Islamic insurgency makes almost daily attacks on government officials and police, the 30-year-old Cameroon native will live in Moscow with the rest of the Anzhi team, and will make the two-hour flight to Dagestan for each match. Club director German Chistyakov said that eventually the team would move to Makhachkala permanently, but only after a new stadium and training facilities are built, which will take several years.

Anzhi reportedly paid Inter Milan Ā£22m for Etoā€™o, and the player is believed to be earning about Ā£18m per year, though Mr Chistyakov refused to confirm the salary. Concerns at the level of spending on Anzhi, given that the average salary in Dagestan is less than Ā£300 per month, were dismissed by the Kremlinā€™s top official for the North Caucasus, Alexander Khloponin, in an interview last week. ā€œPeople spend lots of money on football players in England too, why arenā€™t you complaining about that?ā€ said Mr Khloponin. ā€œKerimov is also investing in youth football and sports training, and that is the most important thing.ā€

At a press conference in Makhachkala, Etoā€™o said that the money had played a part in his move to Anzhi, but he was more interested in the challenge of ā€œtaking the club from A to Zā€. Rumours have also surfaced in recent days that the club are keen to employ the current England boss, Fabio Capello, as their new manager.

Anzhi fires coach 1 month after signing Eto'o

MOSCOW (AP) -Russian premier league team Anzhi Makhachkala has fired its coach Gadzhi Gadzhiyev after a string of disappointing results.

A brief statement from the team on Thursday did not state the reason for the dismissal of Gadzhiyev, who took the helm in 2010.

Anzhi attracted worldwide attention in August when it signed Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o from Inter Milan for a reported nearly $29 million per season, which would make him the world's best-paid player.

But Anzhi's performance since Eto'o joined the team has been poor, with just one win from its last six matches. Anzhi is seventh in the Russian standings.

Assistant coach Andrei Gordeyev and captain Roberto Carlos will take over the coach duties on an interim basis, the club statement said.
