Liverpool prepare offer for Manchester United defender John O’Shea

Liverpool are reportedly planning a shock move for Manchester United defender John O'Shea.

The Irish Independent claims the Reds are one of five clubs chasing the Republic of Ireland international O'Shea.

The 30-year-old looks set to turn down a move to Sunderland setting off a chase that is also expected to include Tottenham, Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

After 360 appearances for Manchester United, O’Shea appears to now be surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

He will be able to command a lucrative deal but whether he would move to United's arch-rivals is open to question.
