Well said mate, whats it saying about the state of the English game when This country's champions are taken apart by the 7th placed side in Spain, also re-iterating the point that the Europa League (Uefa Cup) is more difficult to win as it has the up and coming teams in their respective countries !

Isn't that what Shanks said in 73'.. That in a sense it's harder to win because it's against the teams that are going to be great...

I personally don't care if the league is the best or not.. I know at times that just sounds glib but all I care about is Liverpool, not the league or the national side or how other sides do in Europe.. Maybe that's wrong but I just don't give a monkeys.. It could be behind Italy, Spain, Germany.. As long as we win it again I don't care.

Players will still come even of its not as good as Spain or whoever.

It doesn't matter what League or Cup we enter or the Quality of said Competitions, all we can do is beat the 11 players in front of us !

Don't believe the media or any sh*te talk radio station when they say the Premier League is the best in the world.

All English football seems to be relying on these days is pace and strength with little emphasis on technical ability. Money may be limitless in English football and it may buy quality for one team but overall, money is not buying class. It is not buying class.

People will believe it is the best league in the world. As for what it relies on, it was always that. If groups were maintained all the way to the final, English teams would still make it. But with more knockout games now, teams don't take them as seriously, field understrength sides, and end up playing and slipping on banana skins.

Still at least the mancs went out of their 4th competition this season. :)

How pathetic is Roberto Mancini... most expensive team on Earth and he can't beat Sporting... the guy who scored the goal in the 1st leg (Xandão) played for São Paulo in Brazil, and he was a bit of a joke... unbelievable. Another example of how overrated the league is - City are 2nd in the EPL.

To be fair Aguero looked different class in the second half, but if you're gonna concede goals the way City did, they're going to constantly struggle in European competition.

That Savic fella is way out of his depth and is constantly made to look like a muppettt. In saying that City has more then enough fire power on paper to out score any team in Europe let alone Sporting. It's a shame Mancini takes such a defeatist approach to football.

I think Valencia or Athletico Madrid will win this.

Bielsa is a really impressive manager, and a mad b***ard. Would be interesting to see if his methods would be appreciated by English teams and players. In fact he'd probably F**k them all off because they were unable to function in his pressing style.

Schalke vs Athletic Bilbao, a game between 2 of my favorite sides this season... I wish I could be watching this. 3-2 to the visitors at the moment, I bet it had plenty of good attacking football on it!

It's a cracking game to watch, Huntelaar just smashed a shot against the post which would have made it 3-3.

I really enjoyed that... an exciting game with some top talent on show.

Athletic are certainly playing better than their mid-table position would suggest they should. Maybe they're a cup team?  >:D

Great performance from a great team. I would not be surprised if Bilbao get a nice result at Barcelona next week end.

For a team like Bilbao it almost makes it easier that they're not a top team in La Liga right now, I think it's obvious Europa League is their priority right now. They don't really have the depth to perform well in all competitions. I really like them though, some great players and a really good manager. Really fun game against Schalke too, although the end result was a bit too flattering.
