Pre Match - Arsenal vs Liverpool (PL - 20th August 2011, 12.45 pm)

Arsenal are still a dangerous team with RVP, Walcott, Ramsey, Arshavin, Chamakh and Rosicky. Also, playing at home too, so I'm still wary of this match.

I think we will need to play a high tempo game and close them down quick as a team to stop them from playing.

I'd like to see Kuyt or Suarez moleste Gibbs as I feel that will be their weak point. And I think Downing will do well vs Sagna. We just need to ultilse our wide forwards and exploit their full backs, especially the left. With these tactics, I feel Merieles would be perfect to play in that free/attacking role behind Carroll.

Arsenal playing a hard game against Udinese in midweek, they just lost their captain and star player, their other star player sitting it out because he is on his way to City, new signing won't be playing because he was sent off, their DM will be missing due to a ban and their 19 year old superstar is out injured...

I fancy our chances.

I can see us grabbing a 3-1 victory, I see our wings being very strong, in Downing and Kuyt and think we will be solid at the back, with Kelly and Enrique starting on each flank, can see Arsenal having most of the possession however us making ours count on the break, Suarez to grab 2 and Carroll getting his head on a corner. 

Good time to play them with all the personel issues they have at the moment + two very important European games either side of our match. A few selection dilemmas for Kenny now that we have a bigger squad. I think we need to play with a genuine 5 (4-2-3-1) in midfield and I also think you'd want Kuyt's industry and workrate (given it's Arsenal) for this one which leaves a straight toss up between Downing and Suarez on the left. Obviously Suarez wins that one hands down so I'd be tempeted to go with the following. I think the Gooners will be a little lightweight in the middle of the park so I think the energy and workwate of Spearing would be a good shout for this one. He gets the nod ahead of Henderson for me.

I also went to the General Football Section and you posted it there aswell .

I think we will capitalize on Arse's turmoil and transition by getting a good 2-1 win.

Carroll will look to terrorize the Arse centre backs and can see Lucas really having a monster game.

May well be a game for AA but perhaps its more of a game of quick pace, closing down and scaring the sh*te out of the opposition.

Feel more confident after watching the weekend review yesterday.

I was concerned with our second half performance against Sunderland but Shebby, Macca and Andrew Leci mentioned how there were still alot of positives to take from the Sunderland game despite the criticisms.

Then they showed clips of our pass and move and it was really nice.

Not watching the first half really made me feel different!!

I'm confident about this game. Arsenal are in a state of depression now, losing midfielders for fun these days and we are full oc confidence.

It adds up favourably for us.

Same team i went with, apart from Spearing for Merieles, don't think Merieles is match fit yet, he had hardly any game time in pre season, also Spearing will provide good defensive qualities for this game.

Best time to play them... If Nasri goes as well and they have a tough time in Italy they could / should be there for the taking Looking forward to this game a lot - should be a cracker...

 I voted for a win at the Emirates,I think Arsenal will struggle this season and we need to take full advantage,If we play the full match like we played the first half against Sunderland (without the missed penalty) then we should come away with the 3 points.

i think they're at their weakest at the moment. they will still have the passing ability and their posession game, but if we can press them  and not let them settle, that will fizzle out.

without fabregas and nasri, they will run out of idea and patience and start getting frustrated. we all know about their dodgy defence, i'm actually really optimistic about this game.

we shall be breaking our 11 year duck ladies and gents. i predict 2-1 to us, suarez and downing to score.
