      Dirk Kuyt (Inter Milan)
      Aug 22, 2011 12:09:08 pm
The source is the Dutch media and there is direct quotes from his agent Wim Jansen, saying a fee hasn't yet being agreed between the clubs but Dirk is defo interested.

I'd be sad to see him go and wonder how much we could actually get for a 31 year old. If he went it would be an absolute must we buy another striker in the next few days with Ngog probably leaving as well.

Add another 9 to that figure.

See I'd wonder how much you could get for a 31 year old but 1 million is taking the piss especially with Ngog going as well, would leave us extremely short on strikers, if true with the Aquilani deal you'd have to wonder what is happening behind the scenes at the club.

£1 million is taking the piss.  I'd be gobsmacked if we let Dirk go for that.  And what about our striking options if Luis or Andy get injured.

He was in the starting lineup for a World cup final last year, as well as having one of his best goal scoring seasons.

Id want no less than £10 million personally, and Im not even his biggest fan.

Has to be bullshit, praying it is.

      His agent

"Ideally Dirk stays at Liverpool, but we do look carefully at the situation or not play,"

"Dirk wait, he focuses entirely on Liverpool," said Jansen. "He is in any case explicitly followed by a number of clubs, but actually it is not. Or is there with Inter, I do not know."

Bloody hell corbally! Why do you let yourself get wound up by these speculative stories?

Everytime there is a story like this about a player leaving you have to question what is going on behind the scenes at the club which is a massive over reaction.

Kuyt will not be sold for £1M and I doubt if he will even be sold at all so I'll wait until something more concrete comes up before panicking.

Wouldn't really want to see him go. His work rate would be hard to replace although, admittedly he doesn't always have the most skilful feet, his never give up attitude often makes up for that by keeping up the pressure on defenders and keepers.

As for us letting him go for a million well...surely that's got to be complete and utter bollox.

We cannot lose Mr Duracell, no way should we be letting kuyt leave, when he has played the striker role he has perfomed well for us but being asked to play out of position and produce the goods is unfair on the man.

      Inter make Kuyt offer
Dutchman told to think over move

      By Pete O'Rourke
      Last Updated: August 22, 2011 1:49pm

Dirk Kuyt's agent claims Inter Milan have made an offer for the Liverpool forward.

Inter are looking for striking reinforcements with Samuel Eto'o poised to join Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala and Kuyt is on their list of targets.

The Italians have held a long-term interest in the Holland international and they tried to sign Kuyt last summer while former boss Rafa Benitez was still in charge at the San Siro.

Kuyt's representative Rob Jansen admits the 31-year-old needs to think about the offer from Inter.

"Inter Milan have made an attractive offer for Dirk and he has to think about it," Jansen told RTV West. "However, the two clubs have yet to agree a deal."

It is unlikely Liverpool would be willing to sell Kuyt as he enjoyed a strong second half to last season and he was rewarded with a contract extension to keep him at Anfield until 2013.

Kuyt was left out of Liverpool's starting line-up for the opening draw at home to Sunderland, but he returned to the first XI for the weekend win at Arsenal.

For the right money, I'd certainly sell him, KK is building a squad for the future, and Kuyt is no longer an automatic 1st choice, in my opinion. So for that reason only I'd sell him.

£10-12m to spend on a decent back up striker makes sense.

I'm not saying I'd not be sad to see him go, but as he is no longer 1st choice, he can go.

How is my reply stupid? Because it makes sense and makes you look like a tit?

Two great achievements I agree but overall we could do better than Kuyt.

Youre having a F***ing laugh mate if you are considering Henderson as suitable replacement. When it comes to English footballers people should really stop believing their own hype. As Saturday afternoon proved British football is in strife if it is going to be spearheaded by the likes of Walcot and Ramsey.

People have very limited memory Dirk has and will continue to give his all for the club at which ever position he is asked to do so by the manager without ever getting his nose out of joint. Something 'captain fantastic' was in a huff about when asked to play on the right by Rafa.

As i said before Hendo is NO RM i see him as a CM only, no one doubts Dirk's work rate but technically he is poor, did you watch the game on Sat? I smashed my remote control of the wall watching him give the ball away so much. And he has been like that for years.

Dirk's main contribution is his never say die attitude, his excellent character and his incredible work ethic. Sadly he is not getting any younger and if the right offer comes in we should consider it. Anything around £8/10million I would sell, but personally I doubt we would be offered anything like that for him. I don't really see Dirk as a bench player, its his hard work over 90mins week in week out that's his great value, not 20mins off the bench.

Offcourse I watched it lad not once but twice and all the highlights on MOTD again.

Nobody said Dirk was a smooth and silky player but he has done more then enough to show his worth keeping at this club. He is capable of making very simple mistakes every now and then but  through grit and graft will get on the end of balls and crosses that nobody else can.

I know he gives his all mate but seriously IMO we need a better player, we are not going to progress with players that produce more work ethic than ability IMO. That's all I'm saying on the matter as i have said it numerous times, i never really rated Kuyt as a player technically but i appreciate his attitude.

Everyone says about his work rate being high but him not being very gifted or being technically poor, i think that's bullshit, he is actually very good at other aspects of football other than running as we see in match after match, such as his pass to Torres against the chavs, his ability to keep the ball and deliver crosses when played out of position on the right, and even linking up with other players really well as well as being a good finisher. i don't think that he is just all about the 'work ethic' he has more to him which a lot of people choose to ignore.

Kuyt won't raise a sufficient fee to warrant a sale, but I could see why Inter would be trying their luck after the supposed Aquilani deal...

I like Kuyt, but I would sell for £7m or so.

For 15M we could most likely land a younger, faster, more skillful Dutch international in Ibrahim Affelay.  I'd imagine we could also land Lucas Barrios as a like for like replacement in the 15-20M range, and he'd be boss!  There are options out there that we could land.

Of course you are not the only one ... Only the Joga Bonito experts can't see his true value to our great club ...

He has been a valuable servant to this club, but every player has a price.  What would you sell him for?  For me, I think we'd be getting good value for a 31 year old player who's best attribute is his work rate if we could snag about 12M for him.  That's just my opinion.  Maybe you truly think he's worth more like 15-20M, and that's fine as you are entitled to your opinion as well :)

De Telegraaf is the least reliable Dutch newspaper around. And the story hasn't been replicated in media that I'd say is reliable. Doesn't say it isn't true ofcourse, and I wouldn't be surprised they are as Kuyt's position in the team is less certain.

And they never say he's going for 1 million.

Liverpool FC Dirk Kuyt Inter Milan link is one-year-old story

      By James Pearce
      Aug 22 2011

REPORTS that Inter Milan have made an approach for Liverpool FC’s Dirk Kuyt are wide of the mark.

The Dutchman’s agent Rob Jansen was today quoted as saying the 31-year-old was considering “an attractive offer” from the Serie A outfit.

However, the quotes are a year old and relate to when Inter were chasing Kuyt last summer when former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez was in charge at the San Siro.

Kuyt was left out of the Reds’ starting line-up for the opening day draw with Sunderland but was recalled for the victory at Arsenal.

Kenny Dalglish has made no secret of his admiration for Kuyt who is one short of 50 league goals for the club.

“Dirk is a fantastic player for this football club,” he said.

“He does work hard for the team, but then sometimes that work ethic disguises the ability he has got as well so don't forget he has got a fair amount of ability.

“It's fantastic for anyone to get 50 league goals for his club and that will be a great milestone for him when he gets it.”

Dirk's going nowhere. He'll be a great squad player for at least the next two years despite his age.
