If he is on a free with a 1 year contract, That's a great bit of business.

Happy with this, as a few others have stated, who would we rather have? Ngog or Bellers? No brainer.

Hope what JD says is right, a 1 year deal with an extension providing he gets enough game time. That seems a good deal for player and club.

Bellamy and Tevez worked really well together. Tevez and Suarez are similar. I'm not expecting Bellamy to play TOO much, but if the option comes up, he could do very, very well.

The only problem I can see with handing him a one year contract would be he could sign a pre-contract in January. Would be disappointing if he had started bagging the goals.

Maybe a 1 year deal with an option to automatically sign a new deal in January depending on goals/appearances? There's always clauses in contracts such as these and I'm sure the club could insert a clause like this.  That's if he did sign for us, of course.

With a lot of journos saying how desperate he is to come back, I don't reckon that would become a problem.

I am just not sure about this. No doubt, a great player but, I almost feel we could have done a bit better on this front. However, he looks like he will be free so at least that is something. Also, he is proven in the Prem. ;)

      Bellamy set for Liverpool return

Craig Bellamy is believed to be on his way to Melwood for a medical ahead of a transfer deadline day move back to Liverpool.

The Manchester City striker is available on a free transfer and will relish the chance to return to the club he last played for under Rafael Benitez back in 2006.

Am I the only one who doesn't want this?

He's 32, doesn't fit in with our policy of only buying players under 26, and wasn't fantastic the last time he was here. Plus he hasn't played the game in a year.

      I don't want him.

I guess you are in the wrong forum, mate. You must have typed arsenal-mania on the URL. :D

But, when did we have such a policy? Did we not but Downing?

I don't think its such a policy were we are strictly prohibited from buying players under 26, Downing was 27 when we bought him. They're more guidelines if anything, if Kenny wants a player I doubt FSG will stop him, regardless of the age. Bellamy didn't have the best spell the last time he was here, but a couple of years ago he was fantastic for City. Hasn't played the game in a year? He played over 30 games for Cardiff last year tbf.

Personally think hes a good stop-gap option for a year, he still has abit of pace about him and he has the right attitude on the pitch.

One thing is certain, hes an undoubted improvement on Ngog.

No your not the only one Joey.
He is coming back to a much healthier club than the one he left.
Older player's can still be brought in they just don't get long term contract's.

Great bit of business IMO Kenny will get more out of him than Rafa did.

Yes, you're right about the Cardiff bit, I meant Premier League. But yeh, I just don't rate him highly enough.

In all seriousness right now, I would have in a fit squad: Reina, Johnson, Carra, Agger, Enrique, Adam, Lucas, Kuyt, Gerrard, Downing, Suarez. And the bench of Doni, Skrtel, Kelly, Meireles, Henderson, Carroll, Spearing. With Maxi, Coates pretty close to that as well. Where does everybody see him fitting in the clubs plans at 32?

Signing more senior players is not a problem, signing 30/31 yr old players on 4 year deals is the problem!

Craig Bellamy having medical as he closes in on Liverpool FC return
CRAIG BELLAMY is having a medical as he closes in on a dream return to Liverpool.

The 32-year-old striker left the Wales squad to travel to Merseyside and is expected to secure his switch from Manchester City on a free transfer.

Bellamy is understood to have reached an agreement with City over the rest of his contract at Eastlands.

As Bellamy arrives at Anfield, David Ngog is moving on to Bolton for a fee of around £4million. The French striker’s transfer will go through in the next few hours.
