And actually started in all their Champions League games last season in the last 16 round, quarter finals, semi finals, and as you said the final. Safe to say  that he was part of the team that won that Champions League.

I'm pretty sure he's been used far more as a centre back than as a CDM at Barca hasn't he? It's pretty rare that Guardiola doesn't play Busquets.

Yeah, Masch doesn't really fit in as a DM at Barcelona, he lacks some creativity compared to Busquets. But fits right in at CB. His role is very similar to how he played for us though.

LARRY Lloyd ? Won a couple of European cups and the League with Forest.

John Toshack would have to be regarded as a success with what he achieved at Swansea as player manager(albeit with the help of ex REDS) and his time as manager of Real Sociedad.With Swansea he took them from the old 4th division to the old 1st division in successive seasons and was a Spanish Cup winner with Real Sociedad.He was quite good at putting the ball in the net when he played for us as well.

You could argue David James became a better keeper after he left us.

Alou Diarra never got a game for us and has won honours in France and captained the national team.

Gary Ablett won a FA cup for Everton. Only player to do it at both Mersyside clubs.

Masch got a lot of respect from me (I'm sure he cares) after his post-match comments in the Champions League final. Wish he had been a bit more patient, but it's allowed Lucas to grow.

Alonso will win more trophies in his time at Real Madrid due to the non-competitive nature of that league outside of the top two. Real Madrid and Barcelona are also easily the two best teams in Europe.

Alonso won the Champions League and FA Cup with us and has only won the Spanish Cup so far in all his time there so I would say his time here was more of a success.

Mascha has had sucess at Barca where he had none here.

Owen won Euro trophies with us and only scored one goal in a few appearances when he won the Premiership with them.

If I'm answering the topic title, how can you better yourself leaving Liverpool the greatest club in the world? There may be 3 or 4 bigger clubs than us, but none are better!
