250 for Dirk

Dirk's next competitive game in a Liverpool shirt will be his 250th for the club. For a lad who has taken a lot of stick during his time, it's not a bad tally in the slightest. Goes above Danny Murphy and John Molyneux in the all time appearance record (both 249 games for the Reds) and becomes the 75th player to pass 250 games for Liverpool Football Club.

Well done Dirk, go and mark it with your 50th League goal for the club as well.

Can't believe it's been 5 years since he arrived.

His debut was West Ham mate, the one where Agger scored that 40 yard rocket. He was immense that day when he came off the bench, set Crouch up for a goal but the big man had strayed offside.

Always liked him. I think his work ethic is second to none.

A little slow yes, but never gives up, never moans or bad mouths others either.

And 67 goals from those 249 games is not too shabby either.

Well in Dirk lad, epitamises the word 'Commitment'

He's abit like marmite old Dirk. Strange how some people rate players & others don't. I have always thought of him as a very good player for us (that 1 season apart - sad personal times blighted that) I also think he is better as a support striker. He doesnt seem to moan & he always puts in a shift. Great servant to the club.

Big fan of Dirk he gives everything for the team and deserves more credit than he gets.

I've been guilty of doubting his ability from time to time and he's always made me eat my words. I've never doubted his honesty, loyalty and work ethic tho' and I agree he deserves more credit than he's got (from me anyhow) - well done Dirk.

I wanted to sell him 3 seasons ago and the bugger is still here! Made me eat my words too BBB. Fantastic character, work ethic and team first mentality.

I don't know if it's soon enough to say he's a legend of Anfield, but I'm sure he will be. He's very committed to the club and he has all of my respect.

A top player, who gives everytime a 100% (and most of the times more!).
Shame he still is so underrated.
Getting his name and number on a kit was a no-brainer for me.

Good stuff. And a possible 1 in 3 strike rate if he scores, not a bad return for a player who has taken his share of stick
