      Quote
"There is a lot of choice for this January market," Ancelotti told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Since I signed for PSG I have received hundreds of calls from agents proposing their client: Falcao, Tevez, Torres, Berbatov, Pavlyuchenko, Cavani, Llorente.

"All want to come here: there is money, there is Paris, there is a good coach."

      Tevez, Cavani, Llorente, Falcao.

      Plenty of talent there.

De Laurentis said he would start listening to offers at 50 million Euros, so that means he will sell for 40 mill.

Dont think the owners are willing to risk that much, but Suarez and Cavani would be lethal
Back to reality, any news on the transfer market?

EDIT: For fucks sake, just realised its cheaper than Andy!  :f_tongueincheek:

Surely Napoli wont be looking to sell Cavani in January anyway, they still have the Champions league to think about, its a winnable tie for them next up. It not like his price will decrease if he stays until the summer at the least. A couple more goals in the CL this season may even raise it more.. Makes no sense for them to sell now.

I quite like him. Think at the price that's being tossed around it's a fine buy for Newcastle.

Well we have already signed Joao Carlos Teixeira from Sporting Lisbon...19year old attacking mid??

I think we just need one clinical proven striker to sign...perhaps Jermaine Defoe?
Personally I'd try and sign Edinson Cavani the relationship with Suarez is already brilliant as they both play upfront for Uruguay, it would give us more attacking options and also help get the goals....
Maybe try for a winger too, someone who can give Carroll good service in the box, Kuyt and Downing don't seem like they can provide Carroll with the chances, however Bellamy does.....perhaps a move for someone like Aaron Lennon?? He's got pace and can deliver a good cross?

I'm very deceived by the team actually. No new players although we desperately need one player like Suarez, another spark. A player who would put our club under the lights but it seems we'll keep  the squad unchanged. I hope Kenny knows what he is doing, he must be knowing. Maybe he thinks that the team has not gel yet? He wants to solve the issues before introducing other players? maybe maybe...

I've got my fingers crossed the club sign a wide player. Someone with pace and dribbling ability. We're so short of players who can do this. Either that or give young Sterling an opportunity to show his stuff. Especially on the right hand side where our best option also happens to be the Captain and our best central midfielder.

Time is pressing well past half way point and as yet not too much to get excited about. Our current squad will find it difficult to get into the top 4 ( theleague dosen't lie etc).
Another young inexperienced player bought ,does that mean our Academy still is not producing it certainly does not give a ringing endorsement of it.
If we are doing business behind closed doors then in this era of open media and leaks they are doing an exceptional job but I fear we are not going to pounce for a player that will take us back up into the top 4.
Their are few rumours to get excited about unless someone knows different.

      Look at it this way:

If we were to spend money assuming that the players would get us into the top four, and didn't, that would leave us short-changed for the longer, better value, summer transfer window.

If we can't get the right deal, at the right price, in January, then I don't think the club should spend.

Last January we were right to spend the money we had (regardless of whether you think we bought the right players!), because it was the last window that didn't count towards the financial fair play rules.

I've read people saying we have the Meireles money, but if we end up pissing it away on the wrong player, or gifting it to another club by overspending, it's largely wasted.

I don't believe FSG will try to keep the money, I have faith in them, and believe it is available to Kenny if and when he wants.

But I agree totally with the King wanted to get full value for that money, even if it means waiting until the summer.

But, that said, if a quality player becomes available at an affordable price, we should certainly pounce.

I dont keep tabs on the net spend but it cant be far of £0.00p so far and I understand the club is already worth more than when they bought it.
They hardly get a mention these days it would be nice to know where we are on a number of things not least the squad. Its obvious to everyone we need to score more goals and just because its January doesn't mean we should strengthen the squad. If we end up 6th or 7th that will not be a good position.
If we get to the final its likely to be a nailed on win and entry to Europa league guarantee'd leaving us free to pursue 4th place without any hinderance.
So if w ebeat City next week I cant see us buying anyone.

If we dont do anything i really dont think we'll get in the top four.  We cant score against low tier teams but play great against top 6, well there are 5 other top 6 and 14 lesser teams. So we need to take those points or we will crumble

Are we playing who am I. Junior Hoilett is my guess.
He is the perfect player for what you think we need. Quick, good dribbler on the right side.

He said we'd hadn't shown a "great deal of interest" which to me shows we have at least shown some interest no matter how small it is.

I suppose the devil is in the detail..

He also said other teams had shown more interest, maybe that's been passed on by advisors to the player or club and has made us act..

      Who knows.
