LIVERPOOL are plotting a move for Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez.
The Anfield club have sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old several times this season and will continue to monitor his form with a view to a bid in the summer.
Martinez has a clause in his contract, which runs until June 2015, which says he can go if they receive a £28million offer.
However, Sociedad would let him go for £20m or £17m plus a player.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on Martinez, and Jose Mourinho’s Real side have already had one bid rejected. They offered £14m, plus a loan player, but Sociedad would not do business at that price.
Martinez has been one of the bright lights in La Liga this season and has scored twice when he has been called upon to operate in midfield. The versatile youngster can also play at left-back.
