Liverpool join chase for Toon star

Liverpool have joined the chase for Newcastle’s £25million-rated ­midfielder Cheick Tiote.

Kenny Dalglish sent a scouting mission to St James’ Park yesterday as the Ivorian, 25, played his first game since October 22, against ­Swansea.

Chelsea are favourites to land him, but Liverpool have now entered a chase that also includes ­Manchester United.

And yea not a hope of 25mill you can get 95% of noteworthy players in his position for that, and he's not better than a lot of them.

A couple of folks on RAWK with supposed sources say we are looking at Tiote:

"We're apparently close to agreeing a £14m fee (rising to £22m with add ons) for Tiote from Newcastle, we want it wrapped up before he heads off to the African Cup of nations. Also spoke to scott about it who says he hasn't heard anything but he does know that we're looking at Tiote"

If he's off to the African tourney for Ivory Coast, we wouldn't be able to use him as a Lucas replacement until afterward.

These are just a couple of so called "in the knows", where hundreds of bullshitters claim to be one but in  fact they know nothing more then us and make up bullshit for attention.

I really wouldn't listen too heartily to what anyone who claims to have inside information about our transfer dealings.

Well the reason I brought it up is because RAWK mods allows unlocked transfer threads about specific players once every lunar eclipse, and they're allowing Tiote's. So perhaps there's some truth to it.  Scott has been credible on a couple of items in the past.

I thought after Lucas got injured we might need to buy in midfield but with Jay playing really well, Henderson looking much better and Gerrard back it's not as high a priority as I thought initially.

Still think we should always be looking to improve the squad but attacking options are more in need at the moment.

Tiote missed SIX games last season through suspension, having been booked a Premier League record-equalling 14 times, and dismissed once in United’s FA Cup defeat at Stevenage.

“I haven’t tried to change him, but we’ve tried to cut out some silly ones,” Pardew told the Gazette.

“Sunday’s could probably have been avoided – he lost his head a little bit – but he’s going to from time to time.

“He’s got that competitive nature, and I’m not going to try and take that out of him.

“He’s in the top three of our best players. We want him to play every game, but he needs to have good discipline to do that.
