On this day in 1979, Liverpool set a new record for the fewest goals conceded in a league season. In 42 games, they conceded just 16 goals.
And only 4 at Anfield if my memory serves me right !

Yes it was only 4 at Anfield where they remained unbeaten for the whole of the season.

On this day in 2000 - The last ever competitive match at the original Wembley Stadium is a 1-0 defeat of England to Germany and the last goal was scored by Liverpool's Dietmar Hammann.

      (We sure miss him!)

Bruce Grobbelar war a terrific keeper, and a great entertainer, but for me, Englands No 1 Ray Clemence was the best I ever watched at Anfield. 16 Goals in a full season, seems unbelievable now. The other fat tw*t Shilton only  exceeded Clem between the england sticks by arse licking Bobby Robson to stay in the side. What an all time F***ing slimey creep he was. And still is.  Clem was the best for me by a country mile, and I couldn't believe it when he went to Spuds. Saw the writing on the wall when we bought Grob I supose.

I love the fact that Clem actually left Liverpool because he had won everything he could ever win, and needed another challenge. In other words he wasn't getting enough action because we were so bloody good.

Not really on this day, but, 5 years ago this week:
Liverpool Beat Real Madrid 4-0 at Anfield to complete a 5-0 aggregate score, and then humiliated Man-ure at old toilet 4-1. :D

      What a week that was  8) :aaliverpool2xt1: :scarf: :kop5cf8koxp6:

3 years, 8 months, 10 days ago, the greatest man-manager in football brought his 34 years of said man-management to the club.

      He will never be forgotten
