Reds chief won't rush into transfer market.

Ian Ayre says funds are in place for Liverpool to make moves in the transfer window

Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre insists the club have money to spend in the transfer window, but that they are happy with their current squad.
The Reds have been linked with a number of names during this month's transfer window with Kenny Dalglish thought to be in the market for striking reinforcements to help solve the club's goalscoring problems.
Ayre is adamant the club's American owners are prepared to back Dalglish in the transfer market, but insists they will not rush into any signings.
"Money is not an issue," Ayre told Sky Sports News. "If we need somebody and there's a player I think our owners have shown the level of commitment you would expect from a good ownership group that the manager will get supported whatever he needs.
"But that's not the same as saying we will just go spend money because we have got it or just because we can.
Long-term plan"It is about the long-term plan of where they want the squad and where they want the team to be, that's not about any particular transfer window it's about continuing to improve.
"If an opportunity presents itself I am sure we will look at it, but right now it's about keeping going and improving and getting the best out of what we have got.
"We have got some great players in a great squad of players and they are focused on pushing that forward."

Surly Kenny and Co can see we are struggling in front of goal,Cant keep relying on Bellers, think if the moneys there we need to get the players that will get us the goals,Weather it be wingers or strikers!!!

The money might be there but the right players and deals might not.

I'm sure they will know where we need to improve, at least we know the money is there and if the deal can't be done this month it should be another exciting summer.

Summer should be fun alright, but I still think we could get a striker in hopefully a proven 1.

I've got a feeling that we may see one or two moves on the last day or two.  There are some great bargains that can be found at the tail end of the transfer market, and I believe the owners, Comolli, and Kenny will all be looking to see what kind of deals we can get.  If a quality player becomes available for cheap (like Van Der Vart for 7M when he left Madrid) then I have no doubt that we will make a move if it will make us better.

£25m for six months effort? And I believe Liverpool is probably only marginally closer to Buenos Aires than Manchester is.

i'd love to see us sign a striker and a right winger but i don't want the club to buy someone for the sake of it.worst case - the club  haven't done the right amount of scouting on the player we all get excited by our 'final piece of the jigsaw' and they turn out to be sh*t.

I struggle to see how we will get 4th if we do not sign a striker in this window. However, i dont' fancy there being a second Carroll in the squad so bit of a catch 22.

I was going to be a nerd and work it out but I can't be arsed..;D...

If they say there's money there, there's money there.. We've had a bit of a re-vamp already and common sense suggests the new-ish players could still come good.. Not to say I wouldn't be slightly disappointed if we didn't get a few more additions.. ;D..

For me its simple if the players we want are not available in this window, i'd rather wait and get the ones we want other than just buying for the sake of it, yes i'd love a striker to help with our goal return and if our targets aren't available a loan option would be a good idea as you're only commited for the length of the loan and not the duration of a contract.

I think we had to settle for 2nd, 3rd, 4th best under Rafa due to the constraints placed upon him, lets not go down that route again.

i hope so, Arsene doesnt want to spend money but when he does, he signs a gem 8 out of 10 times. Chamberlain is gonna be the next big English striker of this time.

8 out of 10 is a bit generous...

      I give you..

      Flapihandski
      Almunia
      Djourou
      Sweatynacker
      Squillaci
      Diaby (Is he still alive?)
Arshavin (May as well not be)
      Denilson
      Park
      Chamakh
      Bendtner

      Thats in the current squad.

He has signed some crackers but 8 out of 10 is far too generous.

If this is the case, I think bringing in a striker is essential, unless we're going to keep giving Bellamy a run up front?

goto agree with this if we can not get the players we want in jan we should wait till the summer .Rafa allways had to go for second choice meybe even 3rd an 4th look at the players we missed out on vidic ronaldo and alves to name just three which would have made a fortune aswell as winning us trophies
Better to wait for 1st choice  targets, having money in bank That would put us in a strong postion with selling club ie, no installmants upfront cash .Then we can do deals quickly for our 1st choice
