      Wembley - Pubs/Travel
      Feb 05, 2012 09:33:01 am
Right, Wembley, only ever been there for a concert so first time there watching the Reds.  From what I remember (was a long time ago 97')and hear from others, theres just one pub there along with an offy

Whats the normal procedure? Do they split pubs / surrounding area's like they do at the Millenium in Cardiff?

Looking on maps, it seems Harrow is quite close so any tips on pre-match boozers / meet up points for a sing song and a few ales etc

The in laws were there (2 years ago?) with Everton. They said the same, 1 pub so they bought cans in the offo and stood in a garage/beer garden or something drinking the cans

If I get a ticket, which I will hear tomorrow, I will probably head down in the train on Saturday night, stay with my brother or sister, then head to the ground about 9 or 10 in the morning.

I went to an England game last year when i was working down there and went to a pub called the torch, i think it would have potential for a load of reds to congregate pre-match i.e there was a decent area to the front and side for concregating in (weather permitting) and was a short walk from Wembley Park station.

I've booked a B&B in Harrow for the Sunday night, hope to get there around 10:30 in the morning so will check in and head out for a few pre-match ales somewhere.

Anyone heard of any meet up pubs / areas yet?

Maybe it's easier to just stay in London for the night? There are some cheap hostels there.

Assuming you live in Liverpool, there are trains from London Euston to Liverpool Lime Street from as early as 5:27 that cost just £25. You could stay for the night in London then but you would need to wake up really early.

Absolutely gutted at missing out on this one, having tried everything apart from paying £500 to a tout for a ticket i am starting to become resigned to the fact that i am just not going to get my hands on one for a reasonable price.

This leads me to the question, where are all the reds who haven't been lucky enough to get a ticket planning on watching the game??

City fan in peace, apologies if this is in the wrong section.

If anybody wants a return train ticket (Manchester to London Euston) on Sunday, they can have it for free. Can't remember the exact times that I've booked but the details are something like 8am OUT, and 9pm RETURN. Whoever has it must have a young persons railcard, otherwise the ticket is invalid.

Just so I don't get any sh*t about being arrogant or cocky...
I booked my train ticket as soon as we made it to the semi final, just in case we reached Wembley again. Basically if I booked it in advance it would cost me £15, plus I had a £10 voucher which had to be used so it made sense to risk it, I was only losing £5 and it would have cost about £30/£40 if I'd waited until 25th Jan.

Don't want to rip a football fan off because as a regular away fan, I know how much it hits the pocket. So send me a message with your address and I'll send the train tickets over to you.

      Good luck for the season

      Very quiet in here!

Only realised yesterday that Arsenal are playing Spurs at the Emirates on Sunday at 1:30.

Now, Im no expert on London but isnt the Emirates in the same area as Wembley? If so, hell of a mix of fans in a small radius using public transport / watching in pubs etc  :o

Depends what time we get down there.  Not averse to popping a stop away on the tube for a boozer - but if there is one handy enough - so be it.

I'm sure I'll have 'lubricated' on the trip down. ;)

Come 3:30 though I will be approximately here.

Maybe it's easier to just stay in London for the night? There are some cheap hostels there.

Yes there are some cheap places , like these 2:

      £44 single room

      http://www.booking.com/hotel/gb/the-trebovir.en-gb.html?sid=c7e0b5b038773985ecd55193a3d21632;dcid=1;checkin=2012-02-26;checkout=2012-02-27;srfid=eb39b4d01e4560ad7344af53597fc95dX114

      £35 single room

      http://www.booking.com/hotel/gb/shepistonlodge.en-gb.html?sid=c7e0b5b038773985ecd55193a3d21632;dcid=1;checkin=2012-02-26;checkout=2012-02-27;srfid=eb39b4d01e4560ad7344af53597fc95dX34

Ive stayed in both and highly recommend them. Breakie included as well!

There are hostels of course which are cheaper...

I've stayed over in London twice in the past 3 years as Warrington Wolves have been in two challenge cup finals in 09 and 10. We stayed in a hotel in Watford (the name of which escapes me) and got Taxis to Wembley.

The best pub has got to be The Greyhound. It is 0.2 miles from the stadium. The atmosphere in there was brilliant before (probably during) and after kick off.

Has a few off licenses surrounding it as well:

I'm staying there as well... in Liverpool :P

Been to every FA cup game this season, so I won't be missing out on Wembley this time!

For the people who went in February, where do you recommend going before the game? Where did you stay (if you did)?

Thanks, I can't wait for the club to release the ticket details.

We're on the march with Kennys army...........

Ended up in the Torch on Bridge Road which is a ten minute walk to the stadium and from Wembley park station. Its a big pub with decent size beer garden, pints were around £4.50 if I remember but there was a offy just up the street so ended up getting cans from there and sneaking them back in. They were doing burgers and hot dogs outside too.

Depends if they allocate us the same area as last time but if they do, thats where I'll be heading again mate.

You would have thought they would assign all the same places to Liverpool as the last time around.

But you know that sometimes the FA possess a common-sense vacuum.  We're all definitely a little bit wiser this time around though!

I thought they'd have released ticket details by now for the semi.

I've been told that the game will be a lunch time kick off if it's against Everton though, so I presume they are hanging fire until the Everton match.

Just been speaking to a few mates and I am a bit worried. I booked my train, have my tickets but have no reserved seat. I was going to get the 7.48 train down to Euston but as there is no reservation, think I am going to have to go down earlier to avoid disappointment. Anyone getting the earlier trains?

Wouldn't worry.  No such thing as a reserved seat anyway on cup final day!

I'm heading down later today.  Can't take any public transport risks for this one!  See you all at Wembley!

Be interesting what happens with the pubs for the final.

Liverpool have had the East stand and associated pubs for the Carling Cup Final and the FA Cup Semi Final.

Chelsea also had the East stand for their semi.

      Wembley: Chelsea - Liverpool pubs

      3rd May 2012

The Met Police have asked the Football Supporters' Federation to pass on the following information regarding the FA Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool on Saturday 5th May 2012 (5.15pm KO). Licensed premises in the area of Wembley Stadium have been divided between supporters of both clubs as such:

      Chelsea supporters' licensed premises:
      ʉۢThe Green Man, Dagmar Avenue
      •Greyhound, 324 Harrow Road
      •JJ Moons, 397 High Road
      •Thirsty Eddie’s, 412 High Road
      •Innisfree Freehouse, 30 - 32 Harrow Road
      •Mannions Freehouse, 313 Harrow Road
      •The Bear, 397a High Road
      •Speakeasy, 299 - 301 Harrow Road
•Blue Room, 53 Wembley Hill Road

      Liverpool supporters' licensed premises:
      ʉۢThe Torch, 1 - 5 Bridge Road
•Crock of Gold, 23 Bridge Road
•Moore Spice, Wembley Retail Park, Engineers Way
      •Blue Check Café, 12 - 13 Empire Way
      •Premier Lodge, Bridge Road
      •Rim Zim, 1 Empire Way
•The Parish, 120 Wembley Park Drive
•First Class Sports Bar, 125 Wembley Park Drive
      •Piri Piri Sports Bar, 33 - 39 Bridge Road
      •Crystal (formerly Silverspoons), 1 Southway

The Met Police say all pubs will have door staff on them which is either a condition of their licence or agreed on a voluntary basis. Entry will be gained by the production of a match ticket. There will be no police on any of the public houses checking who enters as this is a matter for the licensee rather a police function.

The above list relates to public houses in the immediate vicinity of the stadium. There are many other pubs that both sets of supporters can use within walking distance of the stadium or a short tube ride away. These pubs may or may not be segregated but this is entirely at the discretion of the licensee.
