Where were the big queues from other clubs to try and sign the players we brought in?

Arsenal looked at Enrique and were interested in Coates.
Man utd were apparently looking at Henderson.
Spurs tried to sign Adam and looked at Carroll, Suarez and Bellamy.
Downing................. Villa might have wanted to keep him  :f_tongueincheek:

All this is easy in hindsight, im personally not willing to write them off yet, some players take longer to settle than others, some will naturally be squad players, some will inevitably move on.. Some will kick on next season with a year under their belts and a couple of new signings ..
These players have all been involved at some point or other this season in some great football that we have played, what we have lacked is someone on the end of those moves.

Yes they have all had disapointing parts of the season as well.

Look at Arsenal for example, they signed Arteta, Sweatynacker, Benayoun, Santos, Gervinho all last summer and at some point or another all have taken stick, some are now appreiciated more than at the begining of the season.. But what they have had to take away some of the presure is a striker on 25 goals for the season..
Thats the hardest part of the game.. We will find one and these players will look more settled in a side winning games.

Oh for the days when we could buy a player and throw him in the reserves till he learned the Liverpool way of playing.Often the player would emerge from the reserves and play in a totally different position for which he had been bought and be a big success at Anfield.Thinking back though that was in the days when we did not have prima donnas.

Downings the biggest disappointment for me.I believe our salvation shall be in our youth system, not in the transfer market.
