Overrated players

What players do you think are overrated, whether it be by fans, the media, or just by an overinflated price-tag?

Lampard and Beckham were instant answers when i read the question.

Hamsik and Cavani for sure.

Simon Kjaer - how he is sought after and always plays at a top club is beyond me.

Rio Ferdinand - sh*t.

Gigi Buffon - is NOT a top 5 keeper in the world and hasn't been for a number of years.

Fernando Torres - 50m. .

Wayne Rooney.... has a couple good games on the trot, sh*t for half a season, has another two good games and he's the best striker in the world.
Rio Ferdinand.... always thought he was complete sh*t.
Parker.... Our Spearing is just as, if not better than him.
Fabregas.... especially when at Arsenal, I never saw what everyone else did.
Pepe (Real).... Not good, just a thug.
Carrick.... I don't need to say anything.
Vidic.... Whenever Ive watched United properly he looks crap, especially those Liverpool Torres vs Utd days.
Torres... wasnt going to put him down, when he was good he was good, and now he is sh*t, but he isnt over rated, people know he is sh*t xD

Ashley Young too, he'll score a couple of beauties on the trot, win a few penalties and then disappear for another 10 games.

Parker without a doubt. But hes English, brave, courageous and has a St Georges tattoo on his arse so naturally media F***ing bum him.

Personally never seen the hype with Kyle Walker either.

Parker was probably underrated not long ago, many people thought he wasn't good enough for a top team because he "didn't make it at Chelsea", which was unfair, but somewhere in time (don't know exactly when) he became the darling of English football, which is pathetic. He's nothing more than a good player.

I agree about Modric as well, I think he's a superb footballer, not just the match winner a lot of people seem to think he is. And since we're talking about Spurs players... Gareth Bale also enters my list.

Couldn't disagree more mate, when a player averages 18.2 assists per season (like he did in his last 5 seasons at Arsenal), he deserves all the praise he gets.

David Beckham is possibly the most overrated player in EPL history.

I wouldnt put Rooney overrated. Hes scored over 30 goals this season, same as 2 seasons ago. For someone whos not a natural goalscorer (2nd striker) thats really impressive.

The likes of Bale and Carrick are definitely overrated.

Fabregas, Cavani, Ashley Cole: Not really. They are excellent players.

Ibrahimovic is the weirdest player. Rated hugely in every Football Manager, and by every club or nation he plays in, but everytime I see him play in Europe, hes dreadful. I do not understand why he always commands a massive transfer fee, though occasionally he does score some cracking goals.

I think Modric is underrated. I think he's a special player and he would walk into our team.

Bale is very overrated though. He's a good player and has decent footballing ability but it is his pace and physical skills that give him the edge over most players. He still isn't anywhere near as good as most say he is, but he's still a good player.

I think Ramires at Chelsea is a underrated player. He's a central midfielder being played on the wing. He works very hard for a player, he's a very neat passer, he can chip in with a goal and I think he's a decent player.

I do like Ramires, great pace and agility But he can be a little bit reckless sometimes. I think Van Der Vaart is better than Modric, he seems to score and create more if you look at the stats, though Modric is still good.

De Maria is very quick so for counterattack he's perfect. I like toni kroos.I've never heard anyone rate either of them though. For me it's Vidic. He is very strong but agains agile, passing teams he looks absolutely rubbish

Petr Cech is definitely one of the most overrated keepers in world history... he's still a very good number one, I don't take that away from him, it's just the treatment he receives from the media - in comparison to other keepers, like Pepe Reina - that baffles me. Since his injury he's made massive mistakes every single season, yet his reputation seems untouched. I remember Brazilian commentators raving about him during the last Euros, I was saying to myself "that's one overrated keeper", and then in the next game Cech made the mistake that sent the Czech Republic out of the competition
